Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my family and friends
celebrating Thanksgiving this week!

May you have lots of fun as you celebrate,
and if you're traveling, be safe!
Bad weather is slamming a lot of the continental U.S.

When I was growing up, we didn't take Thanksgiving photographs.
Buying and developing film was an expensive luxury for our large family.
You might take one photo of a special event,
and you'd likely not know for several months if the photo was a good one.

I have one treasured Thanksgiving photograph of my family,
taken in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on October 8, 1962.

Since my post last Friday was rather grim and gut-wrenching,
I thought I'd share a little Thanksgiving humor.

  3. Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving too.

lol Santa doesn't wait for no one, at least the stores would have you believe it. The dogs and cats both have that knowledge down here, each just a waiting. Or maybe that is just when I eat as I may tend to feed them.

    1. Thanks, Pat! We had a great dinner with our friends. I can't resist slipping a little something to the pets under the table, either!

  4. I like those old pictures. I have a few of them too. With the modern digital cameras we snap snap snap. Don't think twice. And then edit them to death!
I had a little Brownie camera but always used it sparingly. Usually the pics were lousy when developed. But I put them lovingly into a photo album and love getting it out.

Cute pictures/jokes! When I lose faith and confidence in people, I always get reassured when I see funny pictures. Laughter reminds me that things are fine. (well most of the time)

    1. Hi NTNPNN! Laughter is what keeps me going, for sure! A year later than the family photo above, Dad gave me his old Brownie Hawkeye, and I supported my photography babysitting for 25¢ an hour. I treasured my photos too. But I love this digital age. I saw that you cancelled Thanksgiving ~ LOL! Good luck tomorrow!

    2. I fudged a little bit and decided the Thanksgiving goodies were too good to give up. Then ate so much .... I missed out on Black Friday. Worked out perfect all around.

  5. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! What a wonderful picture. I don't remember any pictures ever being taken on Thanksgiving... the camera didn't come out until Christmas.

  8. You may only have the one family Thanksgiving photo, but it's a classic Rockwellian one! And those memes -- LOL! My fave is the neck tattoo.

  9. Happy Thanksgiving, Lovely Louise. I'm only two days late. I ate my Thanksgiving dinner on Friday. It worked out better that way.

    1. Hi, Janie! You've been on my mind! I'm sad to say I ate Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, ate lots of leftovers yesterday, and I'll have more tonight! Terry and I went to an Italian restaurant with friends on Thanksgiving Day and brought home boxes of leftovers. Terry is in Vegas as of yesterday morning, so the bulk of the leftover duty falls on me. He'll be back on Thursday, so I have days of doing whatever I want whenever I want! I do miss him though. All the best to you. I'll be by to catch up with you very soon! Sending you a big hug!

  12. I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving! I remember the days of waiting for months to see if the photo was a good one or not. It's funny, film is still super expensive these days, so I am happy we're now digital and can immediately see our snaps and retake if necessary.

    The turkey funnies were great!
