Bring on the New Year!

Just hours to go until the new year arrives in Colorado.
Bring it on!
I hope it is a much better year for all of us!

I had a long and unplanned hiatus from blogging.
I'm sorry about disappearing without warning.
I'll try not to do it again.

As 2020 ends, I am grateful for all the good that it brought.
Yes, it has been a tragic year, but there was much good with the bad:
love, kindness, generosity, heroism, strength, and courage.

So far Terry's and my extended families and friends have survived the pandemic.
No one has died, even if there has been illness, medical issues,
lost jobs and/or income, and deferred dreams.
We're all hanging in there with great hope for the future.

The Covid vaccines have arrived in Colorado, and I am eligible to get the shots.
The rollout has been a confusing mess.
Terry has been doing everything he can to get me vaccinated,
but there is little apparent information, planning, or process.

Who is this Terry, phoning hospitals, the press, our state representative,
and the governor?  I've never seen him like this before.
He's been too worried about me in recent weeks,
and this is something he can tackle.
I'm lucky to be loved by such a good man!

  1. So good to know you are both still enjoying Santa's arrival. Stay home, stay safe, and enjoy 2021 a lot more than 2020. The vaccination, I react to so many medications that I am reluctant to contemplate this jab. Maybe by the time I can have it down here, things will have proven the safety. Happy New Year to you0 both.

    1. Happy New Year to you and Hugh, Jean! I hope that 2021 is good and kind to you and your loved ones. I'm still not on a vaccination list, but I'll get there. Fortunately I'm only allergic to most antibiotics and not to vaccinations. I can't wait! Meanwhile we are being extra, extra careful. You and Hugh do the same!!! Please!!! Hugs to you both!

  2. Hope this year will be happy for you and Terry Louise.
Also hope the vaccine will come your way, I too have to wait to see if my past health history will allow it.
    Take care and well.

    1. Happy New Year to you, Richard, and Christopher! May 2021 be kind and good to you all. I hope you get to spend lots of time in nature enjoying all the birds, plants, animals, butterflies, and flowers you love and so generously share, Kay. We nearly always take a Christmas morning photo. It's getting challenging to get a reasonable shot ~ LOL! I cannot wait to get my hair colored and cut. I've watched the white and grey growing out with a horrified fascination ~ More LOLs! And Terry will be glad to bench me as a barber. Big hugs to you!

    1. Thanks, Debra! Comfy is what we're all about. Although, my body doesn't curl up and uncurl as easily as it once did ~ LOL. My sister Donnie sent me the Wagamese book, and it is beautiful and full of words to think deeply about. May you and your Rare One have the best of new years! Hugs to you, my friend!

    1. Thanks, Rain! We did have fun, and the Moet & Chandon is our annual Christmas treat. We were remarking as we enjoyed it, why do we have it only once a year ~ LOL! I bought Raclette cheese just before Christmas, purely because it reminded me of you. I had never had it before and used it in homemade lasagne. Oh yum! Terry loved it too. I can't wait to see what adventures you have this year. Wishing you all the best in 2021, my friend, starting with a bountiful garden! Hugs to you and Alex!

  10. Greetings from Bradford and Happy New Year to you and Terry. I completely understand about not blogging. I have barely blogged too. I think all my energy has been in keeping up our spirits. Those are great pictures of you and Terry. I love that pictures of you and the book and soft robe. What else would a girl want? I wish you safe health and happiness in this coming year as we all await the end of this crisis. Hugs to you both.

    1. Happy New Year to you, Don, and your loved ones, Peggy! I think of you so often. You are the personification of all that is warm and loving about home and family. Please stay careful, healthy, and safe! May this crisis recede quickly and become only a strange memory. It's odd, but I find myself remembering all the good that has happened this year and recalling our challenges as less burdensome. I hope that our country, all countries, can focus on healing and helping those who have suffered so much. May the world be a kinder, more loving place! Hugs to you, my friend!

If you get the vaccine, let us know how you are. I have a lot of allergies, so I am a little nervous about it! Keep being you!

    3. Will do, Stacy! It's likely four or five weeks before I can get it. The rollout is slow, disorganized, and opaque. Argh!

  13. What a wonderful Christmas you had, and I do like the special decorations on your tree! There’s nothing like looking at something and remembering who gave it to you and when. I have a homemade clay dish, with Star Wars characters on it, my nephew made when he was about eight - he will be 23 in a few weeks! I use it for toast, and think of him.

    1. Oh, Baili, it is so good to see you!!! You lift my spirits up every time! I think of you, Ali, and your sons all the time and send prayers for your well being. It looks like it will be a month or so before I can get a vaccine. Terry has to wait longer because he is a year younger. We've been isolated at home for 10 months, like so many others around the world, and we can't wait to be FREE! There are far worse things than to be housebound, so we are very grateful for coming through 2020 safely. I hope that you can get a vaccine soon too, Baili ~ and Ali as well. Hugs back at you!

  17. Dear Gwen,
Your story of survival and love of reading held me in your grip from first word to last.
Reading the encyclopedia from a young age reminded me that I read the Readers Digest from cover to cover. Always saved the major story for last.
Yup, that hunk under the Christmas tree is the best gift.

    1. Thanks, Lynn! My Grandmother MacDonald always had a stack of "Reader's Digest" in her bathroom. I have many fond memories of reading those issues in her sunny bathroom. I'd only leave when someone one pounded on the door to get in, since there was only one bathroom. All my best to you!
