I've always had a thing for hardhats and big machines.
It may be because I am descended from and grew up around people
who earned their livelihoods working with their hands in dangerous jobs.
Or perhaps it was my early childhood awe for my father who worked with tanks.

in the field mapping, on mining projects, and on oil rigs.
It was undeniably exciting to blow up dynamite or ride the "elevator" to the top of a rig.

So when we returned from Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, I was thrilled to see
that the major irrigation and course enhancement project at my community
had reached the section of the golf course our townhome overlooks.
I had great fun watching lots of men in hardhats and big machines
digging trenches, laying huge irrigation pipes, and covering them up again.

I couldn't resist heading out with my iPhone to capture the work and the equipment
after the construction crew left in the evening.
I can't help myself. It's all so fascinating.

So, today, I fell down a big rabbit hole looking for hardhat and big machine memes.
And I found too many that tickled my funny bone.
I'm linking to Gillena's Lunch Break, Nicole's Friday Face Off, Tom's Aloha Friday, and Debra's She Who Seeks.
May you have a great weekend filled with fascination and laughs!

...Louise, thanks for the chuckles and I learn new things about that I didn't know!
ReplyDeleteOh good, Tom! I'm always a teacher at heart. 😂. Happy Friday!
DeleteThose are some really good ones!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Alex! I laugh every time that I look at them. I'm glad that you enjoyed them!
DeleteIt’s amazing what can be done these days with a machine.
ReplyDeleteMust have been exciting at the rigs!
Loved the funnies.
Thanks, Dixie! I'm glad you enjoyed the funnies. I loved working on the rigs ~ some of the best times of my life. Happy weekend!
DeleteYou had some funny funnies today. I love the "Look I'm a Turtle" one especially. And that sounds like it was an exciting job. And the work going on where you live looks exciting too. That's one BIG trench. And nope, there's nothing wrong with working with your hands. In fact, it's better to be good at that than to be a bad lawyer or doctor. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteI laugh every time I look at that turtle, Erika. 😂. The trenching will join all 18 holes on our golf course. Landscapes Unlimited has special small drills and machines that will dig under roads and pull the pipe through. It is fascinating. Have a great weekend too! ❤️
DeleteGreat photos of the machines and you ~ Hugs ^_^
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol! Happy weekend! 🤗
DeleteHaha oh, it would probably be fun to play with dynamite, until I lose a limb. Might not be so fun.
ReplyDeleteYou never know the interesting things you can find in port a potties lmao saw a few animals come out of them over the years.
Some good ones there indeed. I climbed in a backhoe bucket once, swung me over to read something, then swung me back haha probably wasn't the smartest thing, but worked.
Hey, Pat! I try to avoid port a potties. 😂. I've never ridden in a backhoe bucket which would be a blast. I'm a big proponent of whatever works. It's fun to see all the creative workarounds that people come up with. All the best to you. Hi to the kiddos! ❤️
DeleteThe memes really had me laugh out loud. OMG!
ReplyDeleteI can totally understand your fascination with the construction site - I'm fascinated by "weird" things, too (like the street sweeper and the garbage trucks). When my daughter was little she loved the show Hardhat Harry (I think that was the name) and we always watched it together. I found it interesting all the things I learned just by watching this show for kids. We often watched construction sites together, and yes, it was fascinating.
I love your comment, Carola! I never saw the show "Hardhat Harry," but I would have loved it. It's awesome you and your daughter watched construction sites together. May your life continue to have much fascination in it.
DeleteOMGosh Louis I love this post. I too am a big machine and hard hat gal. I didn't work on drilling rigs but I drove big rigs (16 wheelers) ran backhoes and excavators. It is so much fun. I love this photo of you and Driller Jack. I had no idea you worked the on the rigs. Peel back those layers of life and we find out so many things about people. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a very nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteI know you are a big machine and hard hat gal, Nicole! That's one of the things I love about you. I believe everyone has a unique story, and it's immense fun to hear them. Love and hugs to you!
DeleteLouise lovely post! Love the photos and the funny pictures too. Happy Friday and have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely weekend, too, Maria!
DeleteI really liked your photos. It IS fascinating, isn't it? And especially loved the memories of your dad. Manhole Assessor cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeanie! I hope you are enjoying a great Friday!
DeleteYou have done some excitibg work, Bravo. Thanks for linking to AFFF
ReplyDeleteMuch love
Much love back to you, Gillena! I've had an unusual life. Happy weekend.
DeleteWith a background in geology, mining and oil rigs, it's no surprise that watching skilled operators and heavy machinery at work still sparks that same sense of fascination and adventure.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, my friend! An oil rig is one of the most fascinating tools that exists. I know lots of people don't like fossil fuels which are still essential, but I love the skill and technology required to extract them. Geology has enriched my life beyond measure.
DeleteSounds like you enjoyed watching the construction while I would probably complain about the noise. Great memes. I can't imagine the hell I would have caught had I taken my daughter's slide and used it to extend a cement truck's range.
ReplyDeleteThe thought of how "unsmart" that operator was made the meme so funny for me. I was imagining an irate little girl and her mother. 😂. All the best to you, Jeff!
DeleteI've been around a few oil rigs in my life because my grandfather (grands raised me from birth) was a supervisor on an oil rig. Nice to see you were interested in that work, too. Loved a few of your memes. Clever. NOT a DRILL!!! BTW, my gas company tore up my front yard to lay pipe. They destroyed a lot of my plants and flowers.
ReplyDeleteDear Louise, I think I would be like Jeff...complain about the noise, and the dust! (construction) LOL!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your photos, dear friend. Thank you so much for sharing.
