I Only Bought Stuff That Tastes Good!

I can't believe it!  Another Christmas has come and gone.
If you celebrated this holiday, I hope that you had a great time with your family and friends.

Terry and I stayed home this Christmas and had a relaxing time together.
We curled up on the couch and laughed at romantic Christmas movies,
something we've never done before.

Santa managed to find us, even though we confused him by staying home!

Since it was just the two of us and we didn't want to eat a huge meal,
Terry offered to go to Trader Joe's a couple of days before Christmas
and pick up some easy to prepare food for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Like I'm going to turn down the first offer ever like that!

"I only bought stuff that tastes good!" Terry announced gleefully when he returned.
Oh, oh!

Santa knew Terry was good this year!

Let's just say Terry and I had tasty meals on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day,
and I woke up to the delicious smell of almond croissants
baking in the oven on Christmas morning.
There are vegetables in feta and spinach spanakopita, spring rolls and quiche, right?

My scale did not show me any love or mercy when I stepped on it this morning!
😱

Oh well, I just returned from Target with salad, tomatoes, blueberries, and bananas,
and we'll start anew with healthy food tomorrow.
By then all the "stuff that tastes good" will be gone,
except that big box of decadent European dark chocolates Terry gave me,
that small box of caloric, salty, sweet, and fatty treats I gifted him,
and the delicious Christmas cookies our next door neighbor gave us.

For Tom:  Love is Aloha  ~ My sisters Barb and Bertie, with the help of their guys Pat and Peter, bought a gorgeous 14-foot fir, set it up in Donnie and Martin's home, and decorated it for Christmas.  This was a welcome surprise to Donnie and Martin traveling from Calgary and their family coming from all across Canada and London in the UK to spend Christmas in the Cove.  I have the best siblings in the world!

  1. Your Christmas looks and sounds perfect, I made myself a HUGE bowl of fruit salad (remember it is summer here) and have been living on it. Peaches, mango, apricots, nectarine, pineapple, cherries, lychees, kiwi fruit, plums, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, black berries...

  8. What a delightful and amusing story! Terry's enthusiasm for his shopping expedition is infectious. It's great to see him stepping up and taking charge of the holiday meals, especially with such confidence in his choices. "I only bought stuff that tastes good!"—what a reassuring declaration!

    1. Hi, Heidrun. Twice now I've written a reply to you, and twice it hasn't posted. I hope the third try is the charm. I hope you and your loved ones have a great new year! ❤️

  11. What a lovely selection of pics you have shown on your post, you both look very happy. My husband and I spent time on our own over Christmas (although never on my own as a born again CHRISTian. ) I had to slightly turn away from your delicious food pic as I am at the moment on a diet :-) Take care.

    1. Thanks, David! Yes, it's going to be a challenging year. The US has gone through a number of very bad times and survived in the past. We shall see what happens in 2025. I'm staying positive and taking it one day at a time. One of my biggest concerns is the environment. Your snowy owl post is going to stay with me for a very long time. Wishing you and those you love and care about a happy and healthy 2025!

  13. That sounds like a perfect Christmas to me! We always stay home for Christmas as we have our own family traditions. Plus we don't want our two cats to be alone for Christmas.

    1. It was a lovely Christmas, Diane! My father said that we could always establish our own traditions, and my siblings and I have along with our partners. None of us have given up our stockings though ~ lol! My brother and I decided during the Christmas season in 1963, that we would have Santa surprise my mother, father, and grandmother with stockings, since he was filling stockings for us five children. Since that time, Santa has filled stockings for everyone. Wishing you all the best in the coming year! ❤️

  14. I like TJ’s tasty food every day, not just on Christmas. That said, it’s often fruit and veg. Good that you enjoyed your time together. Have a great New Year.

  15. Sure sounds like a win indeed. Traveling tree didn't even have to travel far haha

The cove must have been hopping. Hopefully those next door "swingers" stayed quiet lol

Let's hope the nothing new but new number day is a good year coming up. We'll see what the orange clown does I guess. At least you can hide in the cove a while after Hawaii and 15 trips to vegas haha

    1. Nope, the little traveling tree didn't travel far, just up one flight of stairs, Pat. Almost everyone in the Cove came down with Norovirus, but they still were hopping. Jackson turned 3 on New Year's Day, and I joined in on his birthday celebration via FaceTime. He was adorable. Now he's back in Jolly Old England for another Christmas and another birthday celebration. I'm quite worried about what the new year brings politically and globally, but Vegas can always distract me. Everyone in the Cove has offered me a place to hide. πŸ˜‚. But you could be the 51st state. πŸ˜‚. All the best to you, my friend!

I was thrilled to see Pakistani actor, director, producer, and cinematographer Usman Mukhtar featured on CNN as part of CNN's global celebrations on New Year's Eve. Of course, I was thinking of you and your family! Much love and hugs to you and your loved ones! ❤️
