Every month the IWSG announces a question that members can answer
with advice, insight, a personal experience, or a story in their IWSG posts.
with advice, insight, a personal experience, or a story in their IWSG posts.
Or, the question can inspire members
if they aren't sure what to write about on IWSG Day.
Remember the question is optional.
This month's optional question is:
What fantasy character would you like to fight, go on a quest with, or have a beer/glass of wine with?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Happy April, Everyone!
I hope things are going well for each of you.
Interesting question ~
But one I didn't have to think about very much!
Galadriel, from The Lord of the Rings,
has fascinated me throughout my life.
Galadriel as portrayed by Cate Blanchett
Galadriel was more of a leader and a protector than a warrior,
although she likely could wield a sword.
I wouldn't want to fight her, I would rather fight for her.
I would choose to go on a quest with Galadriel, because of her inner strength and wisdom,
and because she passed the ultimate test of resisting the power of the One Ring.
She fought her own inner darkness and chose honor, integrity,
and principle over the seduction of supreme power.
It's hard to imagine sitting down with Galadriel and drinking wine,
but if she chose to do so, I would love to share a glass with her.
I'm more of a hobbit than an elf, but she was gracious to the hobbits with Frodo,
so perhaps she'd extend that graciousness to me.
And since we both love our husbands deeply,
maybe we could find some common ground to begin our conversation.
😂
Wishing each of you a great IWSG Day,
and a big thank you to our awesome co-hosts.
Have a healthy, happy, and creative April!
Take care!
My next post will be April 11th 🤞
Happy ISWG day. My fantasy creatures I would really, really like to spend time with is also from the Lord of the Rings. Entwives. We never meet them but how I would love to share their wisdom and quest with and for them.
ReplyDeleteHappy IWSG, Sue! I have often wondered about the Entwives. What an interesting choice. I'm sure their wisdom ran very deep. All the best to you!
DeleteGood choice! And the young Galadriel was indeed a warrior. Watch the Rings of Power series and you'll find she was quite feisty.
ReplyDeleteGaladriel was very feisty in the ROP series, Alex, but there is a debate over whether or not the Galadriel in the ROP was the Galadriel Tolkien intended. I loved the Galadriel in ROP! I was behind her all the way. And I'd love to learn to fight from her. But since I didn't have time to look into the all sources, like reread the Silmarillion late last night, I went with the Galadriel I knew in LOTR. How can I have reached this stage in life still burning the candle at both ends. 😂 Happy April!
DeleteYour admiration for Galadriel beautifully captures her wisdom, strength, and grace.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Roentare! Have a great April!
DeleteGoing on a quest with Galadriel sounds good to me :-)
ReplyDeleteRonel visiting for IWSG day Focusing on Self-Care
Thank you, Ronel! You've inspired me to stop now and go to bed. "Focusing on Self-Care" caught my eye, and I immediately went to your post. The world will not end if I go no further than your comment tonight. 🙏🏼❤️
DeleteA leader that chooses "honor, integrity, and principle over the seduction of supreme power?" I guess that only exists in fantasy, huh?
ReplyDeleteGaladriel is a great choice. I'd love to hang out with her, the elves, hobbits, and the other characters in Lord of the Rings.
ReplyDeleteShe was a steadfast anchor in the storm of those stories.
ReplyDeleteGaladriel is a great role model! I bet she was a real badass when she wanted to be!
ReplyDelete...we all need inner strength now, more than ever.
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! Happy April.
ReplyDeleteHey Louise!
ReplyDeleteGaladriel looks like she's a princess, is she? She seems like a character that I'd love. I've never even watched the trailer for Lord of the Rings- and I don't think I would for a long time.
Have a great day!
It was this last December I learned from my adult children it is a requirement for all loyal Middle Earth fans to marathon watch the entire LOTR films during the holiday season. After doing so many comments during conversations used illustrations from the LOTR.
ReplyDeleteSuch as beautiful and inspiring answer dear Louise 🥰♥️
ReplyDeleteI will check on the details of her character sometime definitely as your description is so compelling and lovely for her personality 🥹🤗🥰♥️
I particularly loved her virtue of protecting rather than fighting , I also loved her victory against her own inner darkness,the hardest job ever for a person indeed.
Here is a saying that winning from our own darkness is real and more important victory than winning over others 👍
Everyone has light and darkness within and goes through such battles throughout the life .I wonder how many of us rise victoriously 🥹♥️
Thank you for great sharing my wonderful talented friend 🥹🥰♥️🤗
Hugs and best wishes 🙏♥️
I'd be just as glad over a tea or a fancy coffee. You're right, she's a great character.
What a beautiful post! Being a protector is just as important as being a leader. I really like how you would find common ground through the love of your husbands.
ReplyDeleteHappy ISWG!
Inner strength and wisdom, what more could we ask for? She is lovely, Louise. Happy IWSG day. Stay strong, dear friend!
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! A true heroine for her people who didn't take stuff off anyone - and still looked great!
ReplyDeleteGaladriel - what an interesting choice. I would definitely want her as a leader of my country/city/tribe. She is wise and honorable. Not sure she would be as good a casual companion. Drink with her? Not really. I would be too intimidated. I'd rather admire her from a far.
ReplyDeleteCate Blanchett is a beautiful and talented actress. Her character sounds like someone to admire!
ReplyDeleteA lovely post about Galadriel.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Perhaps you could sit down for a glass of mead instead of wine.
ReplyDeleteI've never read the Rings books. I think I DID do the Hobbit in school. Maybe. Not a lot of recall on it though!
ReplyDeleteGladriel is the best thing about the disappointing Rings of Power
ReplyDeleteI'm sure she wouldn't mind hanging out with hobbit you. Sure a winning pick indeed. Not sure I'd want to live there though. I'd so be dead lol
