Happy New Year, Everyone!
I'm finishing the old year with the flu. 😂
As old as I am, you'd think I'd know better than to burn the candle at both ends.
Obviously I don't.
Obviously that means I'm insane. 😂
Or a very slow learner. 😂
It is what it is. I am who I am.

We had a lovely Christmas Eve followed by a relaxing Christmas Day.
It was awesome to be home together and not traveling.
Can you believe I said that? 😂

Since Christmas Day I've been laying low, mostly reading and enjoying leftovers.
This flu is the gift that keeps giving. 😂
Have you read Andy Weir's Project Hail Mary?
That was one of Terry's gifts for me, and I devoured it. Fantastic!
He also gave me Eva Jurczyk's 6:40 to Montreal.
I finished that in under 24 hours. A totally different book, but brilliant too.
Now I'm flying through Harlan Coben's "Think Twice."
He is such a good writer.
I am very grateful for the chance to read, read, read.
I've spotted a few memes that tickled my funny bone.

Happy New Year 2026 Louise; and be well soon 🎉😘
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sirkkis! Wishing you all the best in 2026! ❤️🥂
Delete...Louise, I'm sorry to hear about you and the flu. Be better soon, there are lot of fun things to see and do in 2026.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tom! 2026 is going to be a fun year! All the best to you! ❤️🥂
DeleteBummer about the flu -- yes, it's definitely going around, lots of people caught it over the holidays. I hope you're fully recovered soon. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThank, Debra! Colorado is a hot spot for the flu right now. Have the best new year! ❤️🥂
DeleteYuck to the flu indeed. Hopefully you're feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteYeah, hard to believe you wrote the not traveling part. You one of those Ai bloggers now? Lol
Happy not so new but new number day.
😂 Happy New Number Day, Pat. I finished "The Cove." I think you had a whole lot of fun writing it and couldn't resist working in some of your favorite characters. I had to read it closely to keep up with your imagination. It was a fun challenge following Emmett as he tried to understand what he was experiencing. I liked that mind's eye perspective. And I laughed at the Cove touches.
DeleteNo, I am not an AI blogger and never will be. I used ChatGPT four times last year, mostly to summarize books for my book club if it had been a while since I had read it. ChatGPT is seductive. I can understand the appeal.
I am counting down the days until Hawaii. I can't wait to feel that tropical sunshine and breathe in the moist air.
All the best to you in the next stretch of days. ❤️🥂
Oh no! I hate that you are sick. Have you ever taken Source naturals Wellness Formula? As soon as I feel something coming on I take it and it snips in the bud right now. Even if you have been ill for awhile it gets you well fast. Just a suggestion. I think you home is so beautiful. The food looks great too. Perfect gifts for you, books. Glad you enjoyed them. Thank you for joining FFO and get yourself well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole! Dad's cure was a good shot of Scotch and burrowing under the blankets. 😂 I hate Scotch! I'm going to try your SNWF suggestion. Now I just have to add to my Amazon order to qualify for free delivery. I hope I can figure something out! 😂. All the best to you, my friend! ❤️ 🥂
DeleteYour gifts are wonderful, Louise, every single one of it.
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas and New Year's sound good despite the flu. We were lying low as well - both my husband and I have had a very annoying cough since Thanksgiving week and it just became worse over Christmas when we thought it was finally behind us. Oh well. Quiet lazy days are wonderful! Happy New Year to you and Terry.
I hope you and your husband feel better soon, Carola! Ongoing coughs are so annoying. I remembered my inhaler this morning. Duh ~ ADHD is so annoying! I do love quiet lazy days. Here's to more of these days for you and me! All the best to you in 2026, starting with health! ❤️🥂
DeleteIt seems like a warm, book-filled start to the year, despite the flu, where rest, humour, and excellent reading more than make up for the lack of fireworks.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your flu I caught a cold -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I hope you are healthy in a big hurry. At least you are able to read while you're sick. Your home is beautiful and I'm sure your Christmas Eve goodies were delicious.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Happy New Year! Hope you get well soon. Have fun reading :-)
ReplyDeleteOh Louise, I'm so sorry about the flu. It's going around and every day I keep hoping it doesn't materialize with me. I hear it really knocks a person out. But it sounds (and looks) like Christmas was lovely with a terrific Christmas Eve feast and mimosa in a glass (which really, why not? Beats filling up the flutes five times!) The books sound terrific and at least with flu you can read. I really love your simple decorations and your beautiful home. It looks lovely. Sending all good wishes for a speedy recovery and a happy and healthy new year!
ReplyDeleteI had my mimosa in a big Christmas coffee mug. Not because I couldn't get any glasses, but because ...well why not? If you're home there's no sense fussing sometimes. I'm sure you have a lot to unpack. Did you enjoy the simple is better? Sometimes people do. SOrry to read you have the flu too. I hope you feel better soon. And just think, fewer holiday decorations to put away (which is what I get to do today). Happy New Year to you; I hope this year ends being a great one and that you'll be healthy once the flu passes too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and may you soon be over the flu. There seems to be a lot of that going around.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the flu! I caught a cold. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteDear Louise, your photos are beautiful and heartwarming! You look radiant! Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteHi Louise, this comment is just for you, and I ask that you not publish it....I would really appreciate this. I haven't seen your kind comments on my blog for sometime and I miss your presence. I only post twice a week, on Mondays and Thursdays, but in the last month I made a special post, which I rarely do. One was to let people know more about me, and I shared some family photos and the most recent is entitled "Health Issues". Some people may think, "gosh, she gets so many comments, she won't notice if I don't comment". That is definitely not true, and especially people whom I feel a close connection with. I do notice when they are not around! :( You are one of those people, Louise.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, whatever the case, I want you to know that I have always valued you as a person and as a writer, and your friendship has always meant more to me than you can imagine.
Sending you much love and warm hugs, and I appreciate you not publishing this comment.
A happy 🍀🍀🍀 and, above all, healthy New Year 2026. Your Christmas decorations look lovely... we've also reduced them. After all, everything has to be packed away again now ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd the food looks very delicious too. I get hungry.
Greetings by Heidrun 🐈
