Hi, Everyone!
Again another post, just to post.
I can't believe it, but Terry and I are still fighting this rotten cold.
One thing I'm happy about this week is, despite feeling miserable,
I pulled out all my memoir files, laid them out on a table downstairs,
and began reviewing them.
Since then I've also been reading through a number of my online files
to get back to where I am and where I want to go.
I told myself last Monday, that no matter what,
I was going to address the elephant in the room.
The elephant in the room is that the past year has been a disaster for my memoir writing,
and even though I couldn't see it, I could feel that elephant's presence everywhere.
I did lots of other writing, but not the important memoir writing I needed to do.
I'm really talented at making up excuses for not working on my memoir,
but this cannot continue.
This coming Monday, I'm starting writing it again.
Some more memes. As I said last week,
it's better to laugh than to cry.
Another great thing happened this week!
Terry and I survived tax season without killing each other. ๐
A third great thing this week!
I only had my computer locked down once for a scam this week.
Thank goodness for Apple Support!
I'm linking to Gillena's Lunch Break, Nicole's Friday Face Off, Tom's Aloha Friday, and Debra's She Who Seeks.
For Gillena ~ ๐:
For Nicole ~ ๐:
Not funny, but definitely worth remembering these days:
The first I found on Debra's site. She finds the most amazing things to share,
sometimes funny, sometimes irreverent, and sometimes truly thought-provoking.
I apologize for not replying and visiting as I meant to last week
I'll do better this week.
Have a great weekend!

Indeed... I had great fun. Greetings by Heidrun ❤️
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heidrun! Have a great weekend! ๐บ❤️๐บ
DeleteGlad you are back on that memoir. Don't beat yourself up over not writing it. If I vacationed as often as you do, I'd never write a thing!
ReplyDelete๐ I do love to travel! Happy weekend, my friend! ๐บ❤️๐บ
Delete...yes indeed I LOVE the truck and driver!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the truck and driver too, Tom! That image made my day. All the best to you, my friend! ๐บ๐๐บ
DeleteI'm glad my goofy memes inspired you to start in again on your memoir! Good luck with it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra! Your memes are always great! ๐บ❤️๐บ
DeleteGood for you! I know -- and I can relate. I have been putting off a great deal of late. Some of this I connect to depression and not feeling well, yet I seem to make time to lay on the couch and watch mindless things or read. We all have our elephants. If you face down yours, I'll face down mine!
ReplyDeleteLet's face those elephants down together, Jeanie! ๐๐ When you're not feeling well and dealing with depression, it's really hard to motivate yourself.
DeleteWhen I'm down, one trick I use is to set a timer for how many minutes I think I can handle doing something, anything. Then I set that timer and make the bed or whatever. Often I keep going past the timer's limit, but if I can't, I honor it. Sometime's that timer has been for three minutes. ๐
Another trick is when something feels overwhelming, I tell myself I will do one small thing, whatever is most obvious and easy. Then each time I come back to it, I do the next obvious and easy thing. That's how I tackled unpacking from our long stay in Hawaii when both Terry and I were so sick. (He had a man cold, so he couldn't unpack after the first day. ๐) We're still sick (less so), and we lugged our suitcases downstairs to storage this morning. The guest bedroom is a guest bedroom again. Oh, yay! Incrementalism works.
btw, I watch mindless things too, like "Naked and Afraid." ๐ Terry has our big tv and couch hogged downstairs, but I put mindless things on the kitchen tv where I can work on something tedious and distract myself from the drudgery. Reading is never a waste of time! ๐
I hope you are feeling better soon, Jeanie! ๐ค๐ Have a happy weekend! ๐บ❤️๐บ
Geez, you guys sure got germed good if it lasted this long. Hopefully it is/will finally turn a corner soon.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've become very good at the excuses too haha I have one finished, just needs editing, and like 5 or so in various stages, but I've been enjoying time with the kiddos and such. Plus that little thingy called work gets in the way. Plus you got me on the lyric kick. Met my goal of 500 yesterday. Plus Meadow is always sitting in my writing spot. See? Excuses lol
I survived tax season, not sure about my credit card though.
True, we could have it a whole lot worse than high gas prices. Have to look at things through different perspectives to see some times.
And yeah, passwords get so annoying. Forgot one I hadn't used in over a year and then had to jump through like 4 hoops to get logged back in, but I'm stubborn, so I got it haha and it is better they do that then let it be easy for someone to hack it.
Hi, Pat! This cold has been going all around the country. Our house sitter Lynn said it took 8 weeks for her and her husband get back to normal. ๐ค We recover much sooner. It's only been 3 weeks. ๐
DeleteYou run circles around me when it comes to writing, Pat! You write your books faster than I can read them. ๐ But I'm glad that you are enjoying time with the kiddos. They grow so fast!
I was going to listen to a new song of yours everyday ~ That fell through. Now I'm about 470 behind! ๐ฑ๐. I'll get back to them. I'm delighted I got you on the lyric kick! I adore Meadow.
Taxes, OMG! Terry spent many hours coughing and hacking on the phone with Turbo Tax trying to straighten things out. We paid the 2025 taxes on Monday, and on the same day I had to pay the first quarter estimated taxes for 2026. Oh well, that makes for smaller taxes owed at the end of the year.
So much is happening right now that it's had to maintain a sane perspective. I am enjoying Trump vs the Pope. Vance lecturing the Pope on RC theology? And Hegseth quoting a Pulp Fiction killer during a prayer meeting. Are we in an alternate universe? You seem to manage switching back and forth between universes quite well. Me not so much!
The scam artists are getting so clever with frauds. When my computer suddenly locked up on Wednesday, the security alert from "Apple Customer Service" looked so real. But I have learned not to answer any phone numerous times I don't recognize and not to respond to anything that I don't initiate through numbers I know are safe. I'd like to see scammers and fraudster drawn and quartered! ๐
Have a great weekend! I've been retired almost 14 years and "weekend" remains one of my favorite words. ๐บ❤️๐บ
That's awful you are still fighting a cold. At least you're working on your memoir.
ReplyDeleteI love the one about the wireless doorbell recharging.
Yes, finally, Diane! I hadn't been doing anything with my memoir for too long. And I'm not getting any younger. ๐ฑ ๐ I loved the dachshund one too. My best friend is trying to train her dog not to bark at the doorbell. She's scattering shredded chicken around to distract her dog when someone comes to the door. I think the dog has a good thing going. ๐. Have a great weekend! ๐บ❤️๐บ
DeleteThe hula dancer painting on the car is my favourite
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to AFFF
much love
It's mine to Gillena. All the best to you! ๐บ❤️๐บ
DeleteFun post! Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine! Have a good week!
DeleteThis cold has lasted a long time. I'm glad you are getting your memoir going again. It's something you really want to do and once you get started you will take off with it. I love all the funnies. My fave is the cat and the pass words. Have you ever taken Source Naturals Wellness Formula? I swear by it when I get a cold. Thank you for joining FFO and have a very good weekend. Sending healing energy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole. You recommended the Source Naturals Wellness Formula before and I am taking it right now. One day I feel a little better and the next day I'm knocked on my butt again. It's a butt day. ๐. We'll get through it. Big hugs to you! Thanks for the healing energy! ❤️๐❤️๐ค❤️
DeleteDear Louise, sorry you both are having cold !
ReplyDeleteSometimes during such break forced by nature we can find goodness as you did ๐ฅฐ
More indoor times led you towards something belong to core of your soul ๐ฅน
I can only imagine how nice you must have been feeling to reconnect something very special and dear to you ๐ค
I hope you are enjoying this thoroughly my dear and astonishingly talented friend!
Wishing you and Terry health, peace and happiness every day ♥️๐
Thanks, Baili! You're just the best, my sister-friend. Love to you and yours! ❤️❤️❤️
DeleteThere is something steadying about returning to a long-term project like that, especially after time away, and it sounds like you are tackling it with clear purpose again. Wishing you a smoother week ahead and a full recovery from that lingering cold.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Melody! What a kind comment! ❤️
DeleteI am so sorry that you are still fighting a cold, Louise. It's a blessing that you haven't lost your ability to laugh. I wish you good health and happiness always, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Linda! You are a special friend! ๐บ❤️๐บ
DeleteFirst off, I'm sorry that you and Terry still have this awful cold. I really hope that it will finally vanish and stay away.
ReplyDeleteWriting memoir is a tall order and there are so many excuses NOT to sit down and write. While I'm not writing a memoir, I'm writing just little short stories about things I remember from my childhood (and often that writing triggers another memory). I hope to give this to my daughter one day (I had asked my mom for this as well and thankfully she did not procrastinate like I do). It sounds so doable, writing just a short sketch, really, but I'm so over critical of my own writing that it actually hinders me to write anything. I have joined a free creative writing class with the Lifelong Learning program of our local Junior College, and while I now write every Monday, that's about it. I seem to be just as talented as you when it somes to coming up with excuses not to write.
Keep writing, Louise! I root for you!
Thanks, Carola! I'll root for you too! I literally write every day, because I keep a journal. I've been doing it for years. My bother Roy has been faithfully keeping a journal since high school. Stories from our past are important to preserve and pass on. Kudos to you for taking a creative writing course every Monday. Wishing you a wonderful week ahead! ๐บ๐๐บ
