IWSG: September 4, 2018 ~ Computerless and Lost!

Hello, Fellow IWSG Members!
I’m sorry this doesn’t look like a regular IWSG post.
I’m sitting in a train station in Brighton
on the south coast of England,
and trying to write a post with my iPhone.

I have no clue how to do internet links
so I can’t post links to our wonderful co-hosts.
Thanks to each of you for volunteering,
and thanks always to Alex Cavanaugh!

Now I’m on the train to London’s Victoria Station,
hoping my battery doesn’t drain.

I’m computerless and feel like I’m looking
at the Cyber World through the wrong end of a telescope.

I accidentally left my computer behind in
the security line at Halifax Stanfield International Airport on August 8th.
After a boomerang false start, FedEx delivered my computer safe and sound.

But then we left for the UK, and luggage was too heavy.
I’m still computerless ~ Argh!

My writing took a major hit in August and will suffer in September.
I had hit 100 days/100 of writing in a row.
Then right back to a Big Fat Zero I went.
So now I’m reduced to journaling only.

Wishing each of you a great month of writing.
I’ll be back in October with stories to tell.

Now I’ll see if I can add a photo.
I’ve done over 500 posts,
and I’ve never done one without a photo.

Now I’m in Haywards Heath ~ Don’t you just love the names of English communities?

Okay.
That didn’t work,
So I’ll quit while I’m behind.
No photo. 😂

I’ll visit around tonight, after London.
Sorry for any errors.

    1. Hi, Alex! I was devastated when I realized in the Toronto security line that I had left my computer in the Halifax security line. Fortunately I have a lot backed on an external drive and in the cloud. Plus I save every memory card. I’ve been having a ball, and I will have stories to tell, not to mention photos to share. Life is always an adventure with a steep learning curve! Have a good one, my friend!

  2. Great you got the computer back at least. Losing it would be worse than the screen of death. At least if you get the latter you can get the satisfaction of taking a hammer to it lol

Sure far far away from your sea this time. Hope you are enjoying away and you can post many pics when you get back to make up for none today.

    1. Thanks, Pat! I’ve see so many amazing things in the past two weeks. Tomorrow it’s back to London for the third time. I’m going to see the Rosetta Stone and the Assyrian lion panels and the Elgin marbles again at the British Museum. I can’t make a trip to England without visiting them. All the best to you, my friend!

    1. England is awesome, Sandi! The people are lovely, the scenery beautiful, the history amazing. I bet you would have loved the treasures room I saw in the British Library: gorgeously illustrated Medieval bibles, including one that belonged to Anne Boleyn. I hope all is well with you!

    1. Hi, Adam! I hope all is well with you and Daisy! One good thing about being computerless is I’m being forced to learn how to do things on my iPhone. I’m always operating on a need to know basis. I’ve been thinking of you and your love of history as I go about seeing amazing historical things. I’ll have stories and photos to share when I get home. Take care, my friend and say “Hi” to Daisy for me!

    1. Hi, Diane! I was absolutely in a panic. I almost keeled over in the Toronto security line when I realized I had left my computer in the Halifax Airport security line. My amazing husband got on the phone while I was flying home from Toronto to Denver. I almost keeled over again in relief when he told me lost and found had it in Halifax. May it never happen again. All the best to you!

  8. You are a brave soul to attempt writing a post on a phone! You did good, I'd say. Sorry about the computer--you mean a laptop size, right? Glad you have it back. But what I'd really like to know is more about England. Hope you enjoyed London. We were there in June. 3 days is not enough. You're taking the trains around the country. Good choice. We rented a car. Driving a shift car on the left side of the road is not fun. Have a FAB time and don't worry about writing. Just worry about where you're going to enjoy your plate of fish, chips and mashed peas next!

    1. Thanks, JQ! I’ll have lots to share about England when I’m back home. I’ve had an amazing time. Wednesday, we’re off to Italy which is the only thing that makes leaving England okay. I love London. We’ve come up to the city from Brighton three times. Today I racked up 31,000 steps walking around London. Last stop the British Museum where I went back to see the Rosetta Stone, the Assyrian lion panels, and the Elgin marbles for the third time. Shift car ~ driving on the wrong side of the road ~ no thanks! Glad you survived! I’ve been sampling fish and chips all over Brighton. So delicious! Mushy peas scare the heck out of me ~ LOL! Have a good one!

    1. How lovely to hear from you, Geo! I hope all is well with you and Norma! We’re doing laundry and packing for Italy. It’s a windy, rainy day in Brighton, UK. Nevertheless, I’m going to head for the Royal Pavilion in Brighton shortly. I’m wearing funny socks today. Whenever I wear funny socks I think of you and your family. My sister gave them to me for Christmas. They’re full of psychedelic flowers and say, I’m a fucking delicate flower.” I’ll have lots of stories to share when I get home. I almost got locked out of my google again last night coming back to Brighton from London. My iPhone security doesn’t like me using the free Southern Railway WiFi. You would have loved the British Library treasure room: everything from Leonardo da Vinci’s notebook, to Anne Boleyn’s personal diary, to the Magna Carta, to John Lennon’s first lyrics for “Michelle “ scratched on an envelope! Amazing. All the best to you, my friend!
