Blossom Time

Springtime in Colorado is hard to beat!
Western canyon lands, mountains, foothills, or high plains, it is beautiful.
I love stepping outside my door when the crabapple, plum, and cherry trees
are in full bloom, and their sweet scents are carried on a warm breeze.

Soon the ground will be littered with blossom snow and baby leaves will burgeon.
The blossoms may vanish, but my memories won't.

For Nicole:  Modern and Ancient Faces ~
Terry had reached museum overload at the British Museum in London.
I knew when I spotted him that I'd been gone too long
taking a last look at the Assyrian Exhibit which I love.

My mother had told me about ancient Assyrian art when I was a young girl.
She and I both saw the exhibit in the British Museum, but not together.

The panels of the Royal Lion Hunt come from the North Palace in Nineveh,
an ancient Assyrian city in Upper Mesopotamia,
located in the modern-day city of Mosul in Northern Iraq.
The panels date to about 645-635 BC.

    1. Hey, Alex! We're at 6,000 feet, and our trees blossom some two to three weeks later than downtown Denver. Nature is fun to observe. Enjoy your weekend!

  5. Oh you live on such a pretty street. Great images for Rain and Tom. However, museum overload is priceless. Ohhhh, how I would love to see the Panel from the Royal Lion Hunt in person. I will settle for your photos. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thanks, Nicole! I always remember Terry sitting there holding my coat with his head in his hands waiting on me. I try to be a more thoughtful wife, but I still get distracted! Have a lovely weekend, my friend

    1. Thanks, Christine! The green leaves are already outstripping the blossoms. 😭. The blooms only have a short, short time to showoff. Happy weekend to you!

  7. ...Louise, your spring is beautiful and spring is always worth the wait. Now tell me, who other than you would have a picture of King Ashurbanipal. I had never heard of him. I see that you live a 60,000 feet, I live a 350 feet and Mount Marcy at 5,344 feet is the highest place in New York State. Enjoy your spring and have a wonderful weekend.

    1. Thanks, Tom. We've just gotten back from our typical Friday night dinner date, so my weekend is off to a good start. I hope you and your wife are looking forward to a nice weekend too! Take care!

    2. The power of the royal lion hunt sculptures is unforgettable, Tom. The agony of the lions is gut-wrenching, and it's amazing to see King Ashurbanipal's subjects and how they orchestrate the hunt so the king can kill lions. The sculpture panels are huge, and they transport you to another time and place, making it alive and vividly real.

  8. Sure is a pretty spot with all the blossoms indeed. Take that type if snow over the real stuff.

Lol Terry sure looks like he got museum overload.

Still haven't got a replacement for your vandalized vehicle?

    1. No replacement for my beloved Forester yet, Pat! There was no point having the cost of a second car when I couldn't drive. I've been campaigning to replace Terry's car with a newish Forester, but I'm not holding my breath. He'll drag his feet as long as possible ~ lol! It's sure nice to have the extra space in our garage. When both cars were parked in it, we could hardly squeeze around them to get to things in the garage. Time will tell! Have a fun weekend, my friend!

    1. Hi, Erika! I'm sorry to be replying so late. It's been quite a week! Our only car died Tuesday and we're in the process of buying a new one. House painters unexpectedly arrived Wednesday evening to drop off painting supplies, I had medical appointments, and Terry has oral surgery on Monday. I'm sure our HOA sent out information about the house painting, but I didn't see it. We were frantically covering patio furniture yesterday in wind and rain, and this morning we were dismantling four different sets of bird defenses while the painters were caulking on a different side of our home. Never a dull moment! LOL! But it's all good! I hope that you are doing well! Enjoy your weekend! Hugs to you!

  11. Oh I know what you mean about Spring blossoms. The flowering pear has become popular here and are planted along streets in our neighborhood. I have taken pictures, but haven't even had time to download them. I will try to do that so I can show you. I have an apple tree in my front yard and it's blooms were spectacular. I only wish we had more bees to pollinate them.
Believe it or not I remember Queen Elizabeth's Coronation (gives you an idea of how old I am 😝) and I even had a pen pal from Wales at the time and she sent me the Coronation Booklet that was published by the newspaper. I am sorry to say that in the process of life I no longer seem to have it :(
The Assyrian Panels are gorgeous and amazing. The art is wonderful and I am in awe of how they were able to produce the panels so perfectly. You and your mother were students of history together. That is a blessing.
Love it all, Louise ... can't wait to see what you come up with next.

    1. Hi, Andrea! Thanks for your lovely comment. I'm sorry that I'm late replying. I had an unexpectedly hectic week. I hope you won't be disappointed with my post this week. It's about balloons. I was so busy that I accidentally posted on Rain's prompt for next week, and I consciously postponed my post on El Morro in San Juan for a week or two later. But the great news is my eye surgeon was really pleased about my eyes, and I'm seeing better than I have in a lot of years. So Tuesday another eye exam and ordering regular glasses, oral surgery for Terry on Monday, and buying a new car on Tuesday afternoon. And our house is being painted ~ lol! All can do is laugh! There is no retiring in my retirement! The Assyrian panels are the artifacts I've loved more than anything, except for our T-rex at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. There is much pore to the panels than I shared. The lions are magnificent, although they are being killed. Everything is so lifelike. I hope that I get to see them again! Have a great weekend! Hugs to you!

  12. Love your blossom. We had some amazing cherry blossom in our front drive until a week or so again. Now we have lilac and apple blossom.

Love your picture of our late Queen. She was truly amazing, but King Charles III and the rest of the family are doing pretty well too.

    1. Thanks, Rosemary! The lilacs are out in our neighborhood right now. They are my favorite flowers because of their fragrance. I truly admired Queen Elizabeth. I saw her in person when I was nine in Charlottetown Prince Edward Island. It was a highlight in my life. When I was a little girl I was convinced that I was going to grow up and marry Prince Charles! Portraits of the Royal Family hung in my extended family' houses. I feel for Charles, William, and George. I've been living in the US a very long time, but I will alway have kind and generous feelings toward Charles et. al. Have an enjoyable weekend!

  13. I'm missing most of the blooms this year as I was in Michigan when they began and came back for a week before heading down to the coast to attend to my father, while they were at their peak.

    1. Hi, Jeff! I'm sorry you missed your blooms this year. I have learned that each place and season has its own unique beauty, so hopefully Michigan gave you something to enjoy. I hope that your father is okay. I'm behind on blog visits, AGAIN, so I don't know if you shared something about your father. I'm literally sealed in our house right now. An Hispanic painting crew has caulked, spot painted, covered every window and door with plastic, and is painting right now, all in just a few hours. I'm constantly impressed with how hard Hispanic people work, and they're usually in a cheerful mood. It's very odd to be sealed in ~ a little claustrophobic. It makes me think of preparing for a nuclear disaster. I read that you were supposed to seal your doors and windows if fallout is coming your way. Right ~ lol! We're in the 100% kill zone, since we're so close to Cheyenne Mountain. Anyway, I'm creeped out right now. I hope your week is going well!

    1. I'm happy that you enjoyed the blossoms, Baili. Most of these have since fallen, but different flowering trees and bushes are now in bloom. The flower scents on the breezes have been divine. Lilacs are out now, and I have to go out and find some bushes in the neighborhood to smell. Lilacs are my favorite flower, because their fragrance is gorgeous. My eyes turned out better than I dared to hope. I saw my surgeon two afternoons ago, and he was very pleased with how my eyes are healing and the fact that I don't have any double vision. Come Tuesday I see a new eye doctor for new non-prism glasses. I am very excited, because I'll be able to drive again. Poor Terry has been driving me around forever. I think he's happier than I am. Have a lovely weekend! Hugs to you!
