An Unexpected Change of Plans

Well, I'm not in Smith's Cove, Nova Scotia.
I'm back in Aurora, Colorado
after an unexpected flight home on Sunday.

I thought I should let all my blogging buddies know.

I had a dental emergency which put the kibosh
on my trip to Nova Scotia the very same day.

I'm beginning to rebound, but it seriously has not been fun,
and I don't know yet if I can go to Nova Scotia later.
What can be simple or no big deal for others
can quickly become dangerous, even life-threatening, for me.

But the good news is that Terry and I made
the 100 Day Celebration for our great niece Ella Grace,
and we got to spend a couple of days with my family.
It was amazing!

I'm not up for much on the computer yet,
still lying on the couch and binging on the Y&R.
I'm hoping I can begin visiting around
my blogging buddies posts later today.
No promises about a northern post on Friday.

I once told Terry that he needed to worry if I wasn't taking photos.
I didn't take many in Calgary.
But I have a few to share.
It wouldn't be a Fundy Blue post without some photos.

It's always great to arrive home!

    1. Thanks, my cherished Montreal friend! It meant a great deal to Terry and me to get to Calgary for little Ella's celebration! I wasn't able to get around this afternoon ~ I ended up sleeping ~ but you're first on my list tomorrow. Sending you love and hugs, Linda!

  2. Hi Louise, I was so sad you had to rush home and in such pain and I am thrilled you are recovering quickly (well that is a relative statement isn't it). It was wonderful to have you with me for a couple of days and the Cove will always welcome you when the next window if time opens up. So happy you were able to make Ella's first big party and bring such a special gift. Hugs and love, your sister Barb

    1. I so made the right call, Barb. The infection had spread into my jaw bones and palate. I can't even begin the actual root canal until the infection has cleared. Argh! But the pain got under control today ~ no more heavy duty stuff, just tylenol! That's a relief! I look like a chipmunk with one cheek stuffed with nuts! LOL!

Regardless of what happened, I had the best time staying with you in Calgary, and I'll never forget Ella's special party. I haven't given up on the Cove. Are you there through the end of August? Right now I'm going day by day.

I was really excited to bring Ella Grace the quilt her great great grandmother Ella Grace and I made so many years ago! It found the right person!!!!

  3. Hopefully everything heals fast, ugg to the dentist, anything to do there is never good.

haha both cats give that look saying "must you be here?" and "what's with the flashy thing?" Always great to see. Orlin recently saw a baby and wanted to bite his toes, whoops.

    1. Thanks, Pat! I'm definitely on the mend. I have way too many dental specialists in my contact list! This time it was my endodontist. Ugg for sure!

I thought you might get a kick out of Scotia and Smoke. They don't know it yet, but they're soon to be moving to Nova Scotia. That will rock their world! They haven't tried to nibble on Ella's toes though. That scamp Orlin! Have a good one, my friend!

    1. Thanks, Jean! I am home for a bit. My endodontist said I can't travel yet. :( The antibiotics have finally begun to gain (on day 6!) and the pain is blissfully gone! I'm resting and healing. Love and hugs back at you!

    2. And yes, Ella Grace is beautiful. She was a little out of sorts sitting on my lap because she had missed her nap. She has wild hair which is so darn cute. Her mother is Chinese ~ hence the 100 Day Celebration. She looks so much like our nephew Neil and my father, but has her mother's nose. She's calm and smiles a lot!

    1. Hi, Kay! I'm feeling much better ~ even managed an easy workout with my trainer! Ella Grace is the first great on my side of the family, and she has many adoring relatives on both sides ~ our big, boisterous Scottish family and her big, boisterous Chinese family. Ella will grow up surrounded by love and support. I hope all is well with you, Richard, and Chris. I'm so behind in blogging that I'm almost in despair! I'll be by very soon!

    1. Thanks, Geo! I can't remember the last time I've rested so much! Ella is growing like a weed! I'm slowly getting around to my favorite blogs. I haven't had the energy to do much more than binge on dozens of episodes of "The Young and the Restless." My secret vice. Take care, my friend!

  12. Here's to a speedy recovery, the Baby is Precious!!! So glad I discovered your Blog, have had so much Fun reading about your days living with Tribal people... my Dad was Native American and many of his ways were similar to those you described of the First Nation People... very misunderstood Cultural differences which is why so many indigenous peoples got a bad rep and rap... their ways are not wrong, just different. I Hope as time goes on that Society can more fully embrace the Cultural Differences of others with more mutual respect, Understanding and Kindness. I just Loved seeing the old B&W images you Shared!

    1. Thank you, Bohemian! Your uplifting comment made my day! Thanks for sharing your experiences. There is an arrogance in western civilization that is beyond troubling and shameful. I have great hope for a better future in the way people are connecting and communicating around the world because is promotes understanding and helps us realize how much people everywhere have in common. Have a great day!

    1. Thanks, Stacy! I'm sure glad that it is this Monday, not last Monday! I can't begin to count the number of dental specialists, surgeries, infections, grafts, extractions, drug challenges, and appliances I've had over the last 25 years. I won the genetic lotto for everything that can go wrong with teeth! LOL It's a rough bump, but behind me ~ and definitely all was sweetened by Baby Ella Grace! Big hugs back at you, my artistic friend!

wishing you a very speedy recovery my dear Louis!

    1. You always lift my spirits, Baili! I'm glad that you finally got relief from your terrible dental pain! Dental pain can make you almost crazy. I am doing much better. I have at least three more visits in the next few weeks involving a root canal and a crown and making sure I keep infection at bay.

I'm so glad that you had your internal surgery earlier than the fall and that your oldest son insisted on your coming to a cooler city to recover. I always worry about infections. I always felt that the extreme cold of northern Ontario in the winter was cleansing because it killed germs. I hope that you are back to your regular self.

Baby Ella has brought great joy to our extended family. She looks really big in the picture with me, but then I am a little person! Ella is a calm baby, but then her mother is purposefully peaceful and soothing around her. Lucky child, Ella shares the genes of eastern and western people and amazing histories and cultures from very different parts of the world.

Barbie's cats are very sweet, but Smoke is quite shy. She has come a long way though and was allowing me to sit by her and pet her. I enjoy photographing Smoke and Scotia very much. They are facing a radical change in their new future because they will be moving from Alberta to Nova Scotia soon. My sister Barb is retiring and moving back to Smith's Cove, Nova Scotia. The pull of home is powerful!

Have a great day, my dear friend! thanks for all your kind words!

Great, Louise! Love very much above assertion. It puts colors into the picture (pun intended) There are certainly lots you've put here even extending feline ones to Pat. Thanks for dropping in at Rainbow! Glad you've got over the 'emergency'and back doting on the little one. She's cute!

I've only managed to do it two or three times, and only when I was visiting Honolulu. It's impossible for me to do a post without photos. I am so visual. I see the Eiffel Tower in your icon, so I'm guessing that you like to travel. Or maybe you live there??? Have a good one!
