DeleteWe've been returning to this little hotel in Honolulu during March for the past four years. We've made some lovely friends, and we are having lots of fun.
Last night we celebrated my birthday at the May Tai Bar at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel for the fourth year in a row. The Royal Hawaiian Hotel is one of the two grand old hotels of Waikiki, but it's luxurious and expensive, so we certainly can't afford to stay there. But we can afford a light dinner and mai tais once a year. It is a very special treat for me. The main bartender Kui always gifts me with a slice of wonderful pink coconut cake for my birthday. I know that mosts Muslims do not drink alcohol, so you may not know that a mai tai is a drink with rum (alcohol) and tropical fruit juices.
I have been going to the Royal Hawaiian throughout our stay here. I've been taking hula dancing lessons with a couple of my friends and learning more about the beautiful, gentle Hawaiian culture. I'm not a good dancer, but I am having so much fun and learning lots.
Take care, my friend. Wishing you and your loved ones a happy week!
