Music is nearly always playing when I write.
I use it to feel a tone or emotion for what I'm writing.
Recently I found the perfect song for languor.
An odd emotion, I'm sure.
Google's Oxford Languages defines languor as,
"the state or feeling, often pleasant, of tiredness or inertia."source

I rarely feel languorous.
I'm a ball of nervous energy, high strung, with an impressive startle response.
So it was amazing when I heard Joe Bonamassa's "Drive" for the first time recently.
I slipped into a state of languor, remembering other languorous times in my life.
And I played the song again and again just to hold on to that mellow emotion.
Joe Bonamassa ~ "Drive"
On my last night in Las Vegas, I was definitely wallowing in languor.
I had done all I wanted to do and more on our visit:

Here are the lyrics for "Drive" ~ composers Joe Bonamassa and James House:
Babe, you’ve been feeling poorly
I’ve been dealing with stress
Why don’t we go out tonight
Put on your favorite dress
And let’s drive
Into the night into the light
Let’s ride Put on an old blues song
Let all our troubles be gone
And drive
Feel like I’ve been a prisoner
Of my own design
I’ve been such a bad listener
But I hear you tonight
Let’s drive
Into the night, into the light
Let’s ride
Put on some old blues songs
Let all our troubles be gone
Let’s drive
Let’s drive
30 miles from Santa Fe
Bound for San Anton’
Even though it’s dark out here
I don’t feel alone
Let’s drive
Into the night, into the light
Let’s ride
Put on an old blues song
Let all our troubles be gone
Let’s drive
Put on an old blues song
Let all our troubles be gone
Let’s drive
Let’s drive

I am so very glad that you did everything you wanted . Here's to more langour.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue! It's definitely something this excitable person needs! Happy weekend to you!
DeleteYou are always on the go. The gorilla dance seems fun. The mermaid statue is very cool. Pizza looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteHi, Roentare! I think motion is life, so I keep moving ~ lol. The pizza was excellent, so delicious that the three of us shared a second. Enjoy your weekend. Keep your awesome photos coming!
Delete...Joe Bonamassa was on PBS last night. Las Vegas is bigger than life, I'd be happy to visit just to see the signs. Louise, keep the music playing.
ReplyDeleteI will, Tom! I love music, and I would have enjoyed seeing Joe Bonamassa last night, but we were watching the first episode of the new season of "Alone" last night. It's set in the MacKenzie River Delta north of the Arctic Circle. And "Alone Australia" starts next week. We're survival show junkies, but I've gone from wanting to be on "Survivor " to being relieved I'm curled up on the couch next to Terry at home ~ lol! Take care!
DeleteIt looks like you did do just about everything you could in that area of Vegas!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Alex! I did! I hope all is well with you!
DeleteI love stopping by to see some of your travel views. It makes me want to get up and go. (Not until September, so I have to be patient-grin). I can tell you had a lot of fun in Vegas. I hope you have a great weekend too. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHugs, Erika! September will be here before you know it, and then you'll be able to kick up your heals! Happy weekend!
DeleteHiya Louise. It's Andrew, aka 'wordspoticallyworth'. I'm out of hospital now and in supervised accommodation. Hope to purchase a computer soon and recomense my blog
ReplyDeleteYay, Andrew! I look forward to your posts! I'm so glad you're making progress! Take care, my friend!
DeleteI love you as a friend. Love love, andrew
ReplyDeleteI love you as a friend too! All the best!
DeleteYou always take such interesting photos! Love the dancing gorillas, the musicians, "donut lick the wall," the bicycles (and unicycles!) -- and I appreciate the Oilers game photo too although, alas, they have fallen on hard times now with the Florida Panthers. May I ask your permission to use your Mickie Finnz Mermaid photo in a post of mine, with full credit to you and a link to your blog?
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, Debra! Yes, the poor Oilers, but they're still Western Conference Champs! I'm glad that you enjoyed my photos. I have so much fun taking them. Please use the mermaid photo. Have a great weekend, my friend!
DeleteMerci beaucoup, Louise!
DeleteSure looks like you got everything in indeed. A little langour here and there sure is the way. Good song too.
ReplyDeleteThose are some big gorilla suits and that bouncer looks super bored.
Hey, Pat, where you're at! I don't know how those gorilla men do it. Those suits are heavy and it's hot in Vegas, even under the canopy on Fremont street. They are crowd pleasers, for sure. I felt sorry for the bouncer, because he was bored. I was fascinated with his tattoos. Usually people around the Carousel Bar are pretty tame. We avoid places where things get too rowdy. All the best to you!
DeleteFun post!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine! Hugs to you!
DeleteSo fun...how do we comment on so many great posts?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Annie! It is a challenge to visit around and comment, and I'm always coming from behind. Have a great weekend!
DeleteI can't listen to music when I write. It sounds like you had a great end to your trip. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natalie! You have a great weekend too!
DeleteI think SOMEONE had a good time in Vegas! LOL! You are a bundle of energy and all of it positive, thank you for that! Take care, Louise and keep on keeping on! x
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kay! Of course, I'm behind in everything ~ lol! Take care, my friend!
DeleteSo glad you are still enjoying the high life (in planes). Vegas looks great - you've highlighted it well! It's now on my bucket list to visit just for the entertaining sights. Are there people in the gorillas or are they animated but static? A paradoxical phrase I know. It's uncanny you posted a Joe Bonamassa video as I took have been listening to him lately (YouTube TV). Blessings to you and all you know and love. Love love, Andrew.
ReplyDeleteHi, Andrew! It's great to see your blog up again! Yes, there are people in the gorillas. The patches in the gorillas' chests are where the people look out and see. I have no idea how they work the arms and heads. And it's HOT in Vegas! How funny that we were both listening to Joe Bonamassa. He's a fabulous musician, and I love the Blues! Blessings on you, my friend!
DeleteLook like a great time, and my mother side is high strung.
ReplyDeleteWe did have fun, Dora! I'm probably the most high strung person in my family on both sides. Oh well, somebody has to be that person ~ lol! Have a great weekend!
DeleteI would have so much fun dancing with those gorillas!
ReplyDeleteThe gorillas are a lot of fun, Diane! I can just imagine energetic you dancing. I hope you're having a good weekend!
DeleteThank you for bringing us along on this fun trip. Your smile says it all and makes me so happy to see. It. Was fun to see photos of Waikiki where I'm writing this right now. Home, sweet home. Glad you had fun here Aloha friend!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words! I dearly love Honolulu, Cloudia! I've spent many, many happy days there. Aloha!

ReplyDelete❤️
DeleteLooks like way too much fun. Thank you for your support and joining FFO.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard not to have fun in Vegas, Nicole! All the best to you!
Deletethanks for sharing your emotions with so honesty dear Louise .i think i can relate when one wants a complete disconnection with present moment for a while and adjust into specific emotion .i have lived such moments for many years specially when we lived in small house for sixteen years and outings were so rare due to restricted circumstances .it stayed same here as well in new house too for sometime but them my spirit found it's place within sky laying over my yard . yearly get away help a lot but meditation steals the show above everything :)
ReplyDeletei loved the song and enjoyed the feel it offers thoroughly !
i absolutely loved the image of both of you :) and your selfies is priceless !!!!!!!!!
the one wheal bicycle riding girls look amazing what a task .
i also enjoyed how your self explanatory lines :) you know how to say it surly :)
sending you hugs and best wishes !
Hugs and love back at you, Baili! I love the way your spirit soars in the sky above you! Thanks for your always kind and welcome comments!
DeleteLanguor, a word I have heard before, but I am quite certain I have never used it. Mellow seems to come easier to me. Yes, I agree, Joe Bonamassa's is mellow and I am listening to it again as I write this. We all need some mellow, especially in this day and age. Thank you for these moments.
ReplyDeleteAs for Los Vegas ... I haven't been there in years, but I can see great promise in taking another trip out there. I love the Gorillas. Quite the opposite of mellow, but so much fun. And I love street music. You have to wonder how many great artists got their start doing street music. I never gambled when we went to Vegas ... more interested in the shows and the food and your pictures bear me out. I love the bicycle guy. Can you imagine yourself standing (on a bike no less) for a whole day in one position. I have never had that much self control :) And yes, what is in the mind of a bouncer ... do you have to have a violent nature to seek such a job or is it your hope that your large stature will cause people to heed your request for them to leave? So you have taken me on another ride, Louise, a mellow one this time. Enjoyed every minute of it ... and had a sense of your nervous energy being mellowed out. You make me smile ...
Andrea @ From the Sol
Thank you so much, Andrea! Your comment made my day! But then, your comments often do. The bouncer was a big man, and his tattoos were quite something. Fortunately he didn't have to deal with anyone obnoxious while we were there. A lot of people were going to pink box for doughnuts. those people are usually tame. Have a great week! Hugs to you!
DeleteLanguor is a wonderful word! lI'm not as big a Vegas fan as you but it's a spot I think everyone should go to at least once! It's like disneyland for grownups!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Jeanie ~ Everyone should go once to Vegas. It's a fascinating place, and there is certainly lots to do besides gambling. You just have to be smart and keep your wits about you. I've been going over 50 years! 😱 Have a great week, my friend! Hugs to you!
DeleteI haven't been to Vegas since 2018, but maybe we'll head back there as our son and his family plan to move to Henderson. But it won't be in the summer and we'll probably stay at the Gold Strike Casino just outside Boulder City, where I've staved several times
ReplyDeleteGood to see you, Jeff! Terry and I put offers on at least two places in Henderson, but we were outbid. Henderson's 's a good community and away from the frenzy and excitement of the Strip. There are some good hikes in the vicinity, but then, I guess you are familiar with the area. Not in summer is a very good idea! Have a great week, my friend!
DeleteSuch fantastic pictures! A visual feast here at your place.
ReplyDeleteLoads of fun too!
Thanks, Michelle! I'm sorry that I'm so late in replying! I hope you've had a good week and are looking forward to an even better weekend!
