Happy Holidays, 2025!

December is my favorite holiday season of the year.
It's festive and it's filled with love and spiritual significance.

For me, Christmas has always meant celebrating the birth of Jesus
and spending time with family and friends whom I love.

To mark the season I thought I'd share my three favorite Christmas songs.
The first is Mary Did You Know ~ Written by Mark Lowry in 1985  Lyrics .

I first heard this song sung by Clay Aiken on Season 2 of American Idol in 2003.  It grabbed me from its very first words, so simple, so poignant, "Mary, did you know that your baby boy will one day walk on water?"

Performed by Pentatonix

2.  The Innkeeper ~ Written by Lennie Gallant in 2005. Lyrics

This beautiful song of redemption was written by Prince Edward Island's well known singer and song writer Lennie Gallant. He has long been a favorite artist of mine.

Performed by Lennie Gallant

3.  The Huron Carol ~ Written by Jean de Brébeuf in 1643   Lyrics

I first heard this hymn as a young girl, and it became embedded in my heart when I lived in Northern Ontario among the Northern Ojibwa (Anishinaabe) in Lansdowne House and other places.
Jean de Brébeuf was a French Jesuit missionary who worked among the Huron.  He met a horrific end when he was captured during an Iroquois raid on a Huron village, ritually tortured, and killed.  He was canonized in the Catholic Church in 1930.  This is Canada's oldest Christmas carol.

Performed by the Canadian Tenors

Terry and I are looking forward to relaxing at home together,
a welcome finish to a tumultuous year.

However you celebrate this meaningful season,
I wish you love, peace, happiness, and spiritual fulfillment.
Merry Christmas, Chag Urim Sameach (Happy Festival of Lights),
and As-salamu alaykum (and peace be upon you).

 Till next time ~

    1. Relaxing is not my strong suit, Pat! 😂 Lennie Gallant is one of our Atlantic provinces superstars! I didn't put it in my post but the Iroquois ate Jean de Brébeuf's heart. I hope you have lots of fun at Christmas, Pat. Twice so far we've had about 1 cm. of snow. It's been so warm and dry that my live Christmas wreath is brown and desiccated. See you in 2026! In person!

  8. 3 wonderful songs of celebration. Clay Aiken was great on AI. I wish more people would know what Christmas is really about and to teach their children. We don't celebrate, long story, that I will tell you some time. With family so far away, Mr. M. and I have a quiet day. Sounds like you and Terry are doing the same. On my art and to answer your question, "No I did not paint the original face" Just used it to make my own. Wishing you and Terry a very happy Christmas and the best 2026. Oh and some hugs too.

    1. Thanks, Nicole! I knew that you didn't celebrate, and I know you aren't the only ones. It's become so commercial! We had Christmas decorations up in some stores before Halloween. I really liked the colored pencil copy you made of the painted face. You are so talented! I'm going to have to figure out how I can squeeze some art supplies into my suitcase when we go to Hawaii. I have to draw something! 😂 Love and hugs to you! All the best to you next year! ❤️
