The Lovable Labs: Hanging with Weesie and Big T

Not too long ago Rufus and I got to spend
an extra long weekend with Weesie and Big T!

They just love it when we come to visit,
and we love it too!

They're always good for
lots of love, walks, and treats.

Big T Giving Us Some Love!
See How We Make Him Smile!

Watch how Rufus and I work it:
We sit down and stare,
and then Big T or Weesie turn inside out
trying to do what we want!

Four Eyes Working on Big T
Guess What We Want!

And just look at the eyes I fix on Weesie!
Really how long could you resist me?

Telepathy at Work

What did I tell you?
We are going on a walk!

Ready to Walk

Lots of times Weesie and Big T both walk us.
It's alway Big T and Rufus,
and Weesie and me
(We girls like to stick together!).

Rufus with Big T

Of course it is always Weesie with her camera
which means I don't get to star in many photos with her.

Although I have to admit that
Weesie goes after me a lot
with my fetching blonde eyelashes
and my striking brown eyes.

Gracie (Me)!!!

When Big T retired, he morphed into this social butterfly.
He's running here, there, and everywhere,
playing pickle ball every day.

And Weesie ~
now she's this writer
on her computer for hours
every day!

But I just park by her feet
and give her the look.
She'll get the message!

She will walk Rufus and me
for miles!

Now if you want to see something funny,
you should see Weesie walking us
while trying to photograph everything that moves and doesn't!

 Walking with Weesie

She will hold our leashes in her left hand
and her camera in her right as she shoots.

God help us if she spots something like
the pronghorns on the prairie!
The only thing we can do is flop down and wait!

But I surprised her!!!
We were walking down along Piney Creek,
and Weesie was shooting everything in sight.

Granted, she was good
about letting us check out
all the great smells
and doggie messages.

But really?
A leaf in dead grass?

Weesie had us sitting on the bridge forever,
while she was trying to take yet another photo of another leaf.
Those little cottonwood leaves weren't even nice ones!

I decided to shake things up a little
and pulled a fast one on Weesie ...

Shocked the hell heck
out of Weesie!  LOL!
Then sprayed her!  LOL!
(After she dragged me out!)

And what do you think Weesie was doing???

Taking pictures
of it all.

We just plop
and let her do her thing ~ Again!

And while she's taking
a picture of this cottonwood or that,
she's telling us if it's
a boy tree or a girl tree.

Who does that???

< boy tree, btw.

I suppose I shouldn't tease her.
After all, she did haul me out of the water,
while hanging on to Rufus with his leash,
and holding her camera in her teeth.

Truth is, I'm not quite as agile as I used to be;
having a little trouble with my hip
and frustrating inches around the middle.
Getting older isn't for the faint of heart.

And Weesie did drive us to the park,
so I could do all my walking there.

She finally found some leaves that made her happy:

Where else?
On a girl tree!

Girls rule!
Right, Sophie Doodle?
Winkers!

Weesie
drove us home.

And Big T came to our rescue.

Big T always comes through!

Bet you guessed this story ended with some treats!

And some naps!

I rested easy, knowing I've still got it!

A Walk in the Breckenridge Woods with the Lovable Labs

When I visit my sister-in-law in Breckenridge,
one of my favorite things to do
is walk along the Burro Trail
in the snowy woods
with her two lovable labs:
Gracie and Rufus.

Breckenridge, Colorado, USA

On the times I go by myself,
it's a challenge to manage two labs
with leashes wrapped around one of my hands
while shooting with the other.

Gracie and Rufus are really good dogs ~
and Gracie waits patiently for me
to remove Rufus's leash
at the inviting trailhead.

Rufus runs all over the place with pure abandonment!

Gracie likes to know where I am,
and she will often come and wait
while I take photographs.

Which Way, Weesie?

for Another Photo?

Say It Isn't So ~
Time to Go Already!

Black Rufus is so hard to capture!

Almost Home

We were soooo good!
How about a treat, Weesie?

You know I can't
since I've been banned
from giving you treats.  :(

All those soulful looks aren't going to help ~
Your mom has hidden those treats from me!
She knows how you two
have me twisted around your big paws!

We'll go on another walk soon,
my furry friends.

Back to Breckenridge and the Burro Trail with the Lovable Labs!

I started this post several weeks ago in Breckenridge.
But I've had many distractions,
and I never got it posted.

And little else posted!

I'm hoping things settle down,
and I can get back in a routine of posting
and of visiting all the blogs I'm missing.

So here's a blast from the no-so-long-ago past!

Woop!  Woop!
We're back in Breckenridge,
visiting in the Land of Big Snow.
This sight greeted me this morning
when I looked out my bedroom window.

And this heading down the stairs.
With a little playing,
I managed to get some detail.
Oh so black Rufus is a challenge to photograph,
but he is such a sweet and handsome guy!

Right now, Breckenridge is covered in heaps of snow.
This is the deck next door.

And this is just down the street:

The buds waited patiently
for me to do some chores.

And then we were off!
It was drop dead glorious in Breckenridge today.

Mounds of snow cover everything.

On a brilliant sunny day
at 10,000 feet (3,048 meters),
the air is clear and the light is intense.

The contrast between sunlight and shade
can take your breath away.

Snow glows.

This is one of the trailheads to the Burro Trail.
All three of us couldn't wait to get into the forest.

I think I was happier than the labs to get their leashes off.
It is a challenge to take photographs
with 165 pounds of labs
grasped in one hand,
while I try to hold, focus my camera, and shoot
with the other.

Freedom and beauty for all of us!

Along the maze of paths that crisscross the Burro Trail,
we three intersected a forest service road
and watched the skiers and snowboarders glide by.

A day like this makes my heart sing!

And I know that Gracie and Rufus feel the same way!

Wait for me, guys!

Me and my shadow ~
The two buds are happiest together!

Just around the corner, home waits;
but it won't be long before we're back in the woods again
on another perfect day.

Epic snow has fallen in Breckenridge this winter.
I thought there was a lot of snow
when Gracie, Rufus, and I romped in the woods.
Five or six more feet of snow
has buried Breckenridge even deeper!

Breckenridge's Official Snow Stake
has recorded 297 inches of snow this season
(as of 5:02 a.m. today).

297 inches!        754.38 centimeters!
24.75 feet!           75.43 decimeters!
8.25 yards!            7.54 meters!

44 inches or 1.11 meters has fallen in the last seven days!
With more on the way!

Good thing my sister-in-law bought a snowblower last fall!
