If it's the second Saturday in December,
then it's time for Parker's annual
Christmas Carriage Parade.

Heading for the Parade

This year's theme was A Winter Wonderland,
and the Parker Trail Riders rode at the front of the parade.

    1. Hi B&R! It was a happy day, and the weather was wonderful since a week before it had been below zero! I love the snow! Bring it on! I hope that you are enjoying the holiday season! Take care!

  2. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I usually help the horse trailers park and then tell each entry when it is their turn to begin marching. This year I missed the parade and seeing all of the carriages getting ready, and I have only seen the parade as a spectator one year. So, it was nice to see it through your pictures. It looks like y'all had a great day!

    1. Hi Dreaming! I was thinking of you. I knew that you were probably underway, but I've been so busy I am behind on reading all my favorite blogs! The weather was lovely for the parade, and it was filled with beautiful horses, ponies, and minis ~ no burros though ~ :0. I had a blast photographing everything. It's so fun just to be able to do something completely for fun and not have to worry about anything else! I hope that your road adventures are going well! I'll be catching up! Take care!

    1. Does it get any better than gorgeous horses and a Wells Fargo stage coach? Not for me anyway! Hope all is well for you. I miss all my little nieces and nephews at Christmas (They went and grew up on me!). I hope that you are having fun with yours! Take care!

    1. Thanks, Jim! The parade was a lot of fun. I do so love all the magnificent horses, especially the big ones. It's not Terry's thing, so I get to play photographer. I would love to ride on that Wells Fargo stage coach. It's like living history! I hope you haven't been too blasted by the winter storms. I'm catching up ~ again ~ so I'm behind on reading posts! I can't figure out where the time goes, but I'm having lots of fun! Take care!

    1. Wasn't that Newfie something! I amazed at the variety of horses that are in this parade, and the ponies and minis are darling. My heart goes for the big draft horses though. They are magnificent. I'm behind on reading blogs again. You're so consistent, and I'm so not, no matter how hard I try! For all I know you're in Bora Bora by now! Take care!

    1. Hi Debra! Parker's parade is pretty special. I think it's one of the larger horse/carriage parades in the country. I'm going to have to dig up some history before next year's parade. Hope all is well with you in the Great White North!

  7. You are so fortunate to be able to do this, have a parade in December, right now we are hunkering down with a snow storm. Love your pictures today, so many animals, yay!!

    1. Hey Ron! I've been thinking of you with all that winter mess blowing your way! We're out of the deep freeze and into warm, sunny weather. If the parade had been a week earlier, I wouldn't have been able to go because it was way, way cold. Terry doesn't come ~ he thinks I'm nuts.

Everyone had such a good time! Lots of smiles everywhere on spectators and participants. No Boomer though ~ :( I love all the animals in the parade, but I try to give a balanced set of photos. I made sure I posted a picture of each high school band, especially after what happened at Arapahoe High School on Friday. I didn't tell you, but I took some teaching courses there years ago.

I thought about doing a post on it, but then I just couldn't do it. I keep thinking of that teacher counting students as he got them into a safe spot. How many times I have done that?

Loved the Christmas card by the way! Stay warm and dry!

  8. Hello - GREAT pictures! Do you happen to have any of the white and brown pinto miniature pulling the grey sparkly cardboard sleigh with the 3 kids/1 adult carolers in black capes? We didn't get many shots - too busy preparing - would like some for the kids. Thanks!

  10. Hey Louise I love the pictures esp. the one of the miniature horse and the Newf - both the same size. The Newfoundlander looks a lot like a dog in Westport (Bill) who used to love to push me down in snowbanks so he could lick my face - lol.
    Cheers,
    Barb

    1. Hey Barb! I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures. A Newf licking my face, oh slobbery joy! Remember the gorgeous Newf we saw at St. Carol's when we were chasing icebergs? A lot of people seem to have the miniature horses and ponies here ~ and some, I have it from good authority, have an outsized personality to go with those small bodies! Kind of like Scotties! Take care!
