Falling Further Behind!

Just want to update you:
Things don't always go according to plans!

I've been dodging monkey wrenches
for almost a week now.

Prisoner of Time

From an unexpected trip,
to unexpected
visits from friends,
to a contractor
ripping out carpet
and installing tile,
abruptly scheduled for today,
life has been more than interesting this week.

So I'm falling behind with everything.
I did not visit blogs as I had hoped.
We're eating tomato soup
because I haven't gotten to the grocery store.
And our guest room looks like it's occupied by a hoarder,
since we stashed the contents of our master bathroom
and walk-in closet in it (with 30 hours notice).

And I damn near stepped on a six foot long
bull snake when I took a breather in the park.
Good news:  I learned that I can jump backwards
from a starting point with my right foot stopped
about six inches above a coiling snake!

But the sun is shining,
and I'm off for a morning of pampering:
hair, manicure, and pedicure.
I'll let the Ever-Patient deal with
the arrival of the contractor.

I'm still determined to get my northern post finished
on schedule, and I will get around to visit
all your blogs that I'm missing!

I hope all is well with each of you!

Till next time ~
Fundy Blue

    1. LOL, Diana! Thanks for the quote! I just needed to let go of my expectations for myself and remember that it's all going to be okay! I always manage, and I am so very strong! My tippy-toes look so happy and summery pink too! Have a great day!

  2. Nothing like home repairs and upgrades to throw off you schedule.
That's crazy about the snake. Bull snakes aren't poisonous, are they?
    Go enjoy some pampering!

    1. I so enjoyed the pampering, Alex! And we went out to dinner to boot because the work crew didn't leave our home last night until 6:30. By the time we had picked out a new toilet and shower head (why stop with new flooring ~ spontaneous decision) and gotten to Parkway, it was going on eight, and I was hungry ~ so hungry we caved and split barbecued ribs. I love ribs, but we only have them once every couple of years. There's a silver lining in every cloud!

Bull snakes aren't poisonous. They are constrictors rather than venomous strikers. They will bite if they feel threatened, but usually they try to slip away. They look a lot like rattlers and even imitate rattlers in their behaviors. If something big, like a human, gets too close, they rear and hump trying to make themselves look bigger. That snake's humps in the grass looked just like a sea monster in the ocean ~ It's coiling and humping scared the hell out of me. They can hiss, snort, and shake a fake rattle, but this one didn't. I was so intent on shooting a nearby redwing that I forgot to watch for snakes. But I got to snap photos of the snake instead ~ The largest snake I've seen in the wild, btw. A guy, pushing a stroller, came up behind me on the bike path. He said, "I saw you jump back, but then you stayed!" How often do you get to take photos of something like that! LOL! Have a good one, Alex!

    1. LOL! I'll be scanning the prairie grass before I step, let me tell you! Until the next time I get distracted and forget. Fortunately rattlers are mostly nocturnal, and I'm not out romping around in the dark! Have a good one, Pat!

    1. The pampering was wonderful, Dawna! And I've been learning a lot about the differences between rattlers and bull snakes! By the end of the day, my lovely new flooring should be finished. I can't wait! And I get to thoroughly clean the walls and shelves in our closet and reorganize my things ~ leaving hubby to reorganize his, btw! I love being organized! Clutter and chaos, which I'm in the middle of right now, is highly stressful for me. I hope all is well with you. Sending you a big hug!

    1. Thanks, Nancy! I totally enjoyed that pampering, but I will feel much better when I get around to everyone's posts. I ant past the field with the llamas in it four times yesterday. Every time I see them, I think of you! I do hope all is well with you and Hugh!

  7. When it rains...well you know. You deserve your pampering day. Sit back relax and enjoy. Just think how it will all look in the end. Too bad we can't just snap our fingers. Isn't it nice your hubby is home now to deal with all that?

    1. Thanks, Peggy! And it is awesome to have Terry retired and at home! Despite the current chaos, we are having a blast! We can spell each other too, when the workers are here. Jose has a great little company, but regardless, I wouldn't have workers in the house without one of us here. Next up will be redoing our large deck outside, but we have to fit into Jose's schedule, so I'm not sure just when that will happen. He and his crew are very much in demand.

I often think of Samantha and her twitching nose that got those things done so quickly. I never understood Darrin and his disapproval of Samantha using her powers to take care of housework and such. Terry would be saying, "Have at it, Babe!"

I hope all is well with you and Don! I'll be by soon, I promise!

    1. Oh my gosh, JS! Texans have been through it, haven't they? I am sad about the loss of life and the destruction of property. I hope that you and your family and friends remain safe. So I'm falling behind a little. What is going on in Texas reminds me of how fortunate I am, what is truly important, and how quickly things can change. Take care ~ sending you hugs!

  10. What a BIG snake! I was just thinking when I was hiking at altitude this AM, how lucky I am not to have to concern myself with reptiles. Bears and mountain lions, yes - snakes, no! Good luck on your remodel.

    1. Thanks, Barb! That was the biggest snake I have ever seen in the wild ~ and I hate constrictors! But I think I'd take a snake over a big cat. I wish I could get up to Breck right now, even if it is mud season. I'm not sure if I'll make it before the fall. We have a busy, traveling summer planned. Have a good one!

    1. Pampering ~ even retired, that's the one slot of time I can count on for relaxing, Audrey! I keep thinking of your infrequent, solo hotel stays just to give yourself some space and relaxation. Such awesome breaks! The snake freaked me out for sure, but not for long! I know the park has lots of them, but they are pretty canny at hiding out. I hope that you are having a lovely day!

    1. Oh thank you for the French, Geo! One year ago today, I was on a train in the Chunnel, leaving Paris and heading for London. I love, love, love Paris and want to go back so much. London too. And one month from today we'll be starting up the Inside Passage on our Alaskan cruise. Between then and now it will definitely be "Evénements cherchent organization!" Have a great day!

  16. Getting off side is sometimes the only thing to do - enjoy the pampering. Can't imagine finding a snake so big!

    1. Thanks, Phil! Seeing a snake that big is freaky, but fascinating. Fortunately bull snakes are harmless. It's that split second when you think it's a rattler. They look so much alike. Have a good one!
