Are you ready for Christmas (if you celebrate it)?
I feel like I take one step forward and get knocked back four.
Terry and I put our tree up and decorated it,
but I still haven't found the doves from our wedding reception that go on the top.
And I haven't wrapped a gift yet.
Ready-or-not Christmas will come, and we will have fun.
I already have a bottle of champagne chilling.

Thank goodness for Rain's Thursday Art Date and Nicole's Friday Face Off,
because I haven't had time for an original thought in days.
I hope to return to more posts on the North very soon.
I am feeling better than I have in some seventeen months.
I can't believe the difference! 🎉 🎉🎉 🎉🎉
Rain's theme this week is Gift Wrap.
I haven't much to work with, but here are four photos.
The first is Terry's sister and brother-in-law's Christmas tree last year.
We were piling gift-wrapped packages under the tree on Christmas Eve,
getting ready for Christmas morning.

I hope everyone is having a happy and meaningful holiday time.
Enjoy ~ Every day is a special gift wrapped up just for you!
The Christmas tree is all finished decorating and there are so many wonderful presents beneath! All of you look so happy and festive!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Roentare! I hope that you are having fun during the holiday season! Take care!

ReplyDeleteThanks for the smiles.
I love your photos of Christmases past - and hope that this one is just as love filled. And champagne never goes astray.
Thanks, Sue! We are looking forward to a fun Christmas with Terry's sister, husband, and family here in town. I've been putting a bottle of champagne in Terry's stocking since we were married. It's the same kind as we had at our wedding. Enjoy the rest of the holiday season! Big hugs to you!
DeleteWhat a fun post today. Love all the photos of you and Terry, and of course, the wonderful funnies. Thanks for the laugh. Sorry, short comment, my fingers are very painful. Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThanks, Valerie! I'm sorry that your fingers are very painful! I hope you get some relief soon. Getting older is not for the faint-hearted. Sending you Merry Christmas wishes and hugs! Please take care of yourself!
DeleteYeah. It will come whether we are ready or not. I've had everything done since mid november, just saying lol Well at least you got the tree up and it didn't fall on you and break something else. After this year, that is a win. Just don't get a papercut that causes your finger to fall off while wrapping and you're laughing lol Hope a great Christmas is had from there to Alberta to Smith's Cove.(Seems to be a fair amount of real estate going up for sale in the latter lately.)
ReplyDeletePat, you always make me laugh and lift my spirits! Thank you, my friend! Yes there are a number of properties for sale in the Cove. I'm not in the market though. One house is enough for me. I'm sure that your nephews are pretty excited right about now. I hope you and your family have lots of fun together. I'm not surprised that you were ready mid-November. I still have nine days ~ lol ~ with a bottle of champagne waiting at the end. Take care and have a fabulous time with the kiddos during the rest of the holidays. Hugs to you!
DeleteIs that a guitar in the knitted package on the couch?
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!! 🎁
Hi, Sandi! No, it is not a guitar. That knitted package on the couch is Terry's Christmas stocking stuffed with a bunch of little gifts. I knitted it for him when we were first married. It's a very stretchy stocking. Stockings were always a big part of my childhood Christmases, and Terry embraced that family tradition whole-heartedly. I hope you are looking forward to a Merry Christmas and all the family fun and that celebrating Christ's birthday is filled with joy and meaning for you.
DeleteTerry's stocking is massive!
ReplyDeleteChampagne in the morning? I'd be asleep by noon.
Hope you get your gifts wrapped and glad you are feeling better. Merry Christmas!
Hi, Alex! Yes, Terry's stocking is massive. It's a bit ridiculous that we still give each other stockings, but we enjoy the traditional fun. Terry's stocking is big because I knitted it shorty after we were married, and I got carried away ~ lol. It seems to stretch bigger every year. I hope that you are looking forward to lots of fun at Christmas. Considering its main purpose is celebrating the birth of Jesus, I hope the meaning of Christmas fills your heart. All my best wishes to you!
DeleteGreat photos, old and new! Your tree is beautiful too -- it looks like a lot of work to decorate it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra! The tree does take me a while to decorate, but I love doing it. Terry helps, but he's not into it the way I am. I hope you are having lots of fun! Merry Christmas to you and your Rare One. Hugs to you!
DeleteThat's a great stocking next to Terry. I think that would hold more than one bottle of champagne. I wish Santa would put a nice Christmas drink in my stocking! When friends tell me they're not ready for Christmas, I tell them Christmas will come no matter what they have or haven't done. I love the photo of you and baby Roy. He looks particularly well fed.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
Hahaha, Janie! Roy loved his food from the very beginning. He still does. Yes that stocking would hold more than one bottle of champagne. I knit the stocking for him 38 years ago, garter stitch. It stretches a little more each year. My stocking is much smaller and non-stretchy and Santa has never left any alcohol in it. But that's okay because we both enjoy that champagne in Terry's stocking. Have a lovely Christmas! Love and hugs to you!
DeleteI'm actually done early, this year-for a switch. It's kind of weird, to tell you the truth. But you said it, it will be fun. It's fun to see your holiday photos too. Have a great weekend and week ahead. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erika! Wishing you a happy Christmas. Hugs to you!
DeleteLook the Christmas photos from a few years back.
ReplyDeleteI took part in face off.
Coffee is on and stay safe
Hi Peppylady/Dora! Thanks for visiting. I will visit you tomorrow. It's been quite a day here, and I have run out of steam. Have a great weekend!
DeleteWe have a tree up and most of the presents (that have arrived) are up... Have a Merry Christmas. Maybe I should start a Bloody Mary Christmas tradition (it's generally too early for a bourbon or scotch)
ReplyDeleteHi, Jeff! I'm beginning to make some real progress with the family Christmas traditions. It's hard to believe that Christmas is just a week away. Have a wonderful Christmas!
DeleteI liked the photo of 1951 Christmas! I wish I had family pics going back that far :) Looks like your family certainly enjoy the gift of giving - I dropped in from Rain's art date :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, Betty! Our family certainly does enjoy exchanging gifts. I'm the keeper of my family's photos ~ I'm very lucky. All my best to you!
DeleteI love the tree!!!! And all the smiles! Happy Christmas. Last I looked it was Halloween and then I blinked and now whoosh. Christmas. Came so quick.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right, Ivy! Time is racing by. Have a Merry Christmas! Hugs to you!
DeleteThank you! Huggs, back. Whoosh!!!!
DeleteWell you certainly know how to celebrate Christmas and to lift everyone's spirits while you are at it. I am moving into panic mode because, like you, I haven't wrapped any presents yet and I am not even sure I have finished shopping. Shopping was scary this year ... the prices were so ridiculous that I had to force myself to buy somethings and others I just had to pass on. We will just have to settle on a simple, but wonderful family Christmas. So glad you are feeling good and reveling in the spirit (nice to have Champagne on ice :). Hope your Holidays are as special as you are ...
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From the Sol
Thanks for your kind comment, Andrea! You always make me smile! I still haven't started wrapping presents, and I do have more shopping to do. 😱 But I'll get there. 😂 Getting together to share Christmas is better than any present. I hope you have a lovely time! Christmas hugs to you!
DeleteIt's wonderful you had each other during the Christmas pandemic. The photos of the two of you was wonderful to see and a nice one of gifts under the tree was absolutely amazing. So glad you are in the holiday spirit with you photos of Christmas past and present.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays.
Happy Holidays, Elizabeth! I do love Christmas. The best part of all is being with Terry. We always have fun. Wishing you joy and love at Christmastime.
DeleteWonderful photos. Sorry that you both had Covid.
ReplyDeleteAnd what a pretty tree.
Thanks, Anonymous! I can't figure out how to return your visit. I appreciate your stopping by. Happy Holidays!
DeleteA fun post. Lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteYour tree looks beautiful!
Merry Christmas and sending my Best Wishes for the New Year too!
Oh, Louise, I just adore all the images! That photo of you and your brother Roy is so cute! This is a very sweet and festive post. I hope all is well with you!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha! I'm coming along, especially since I've ditched my broken foot special shoe and my rib has mended. I love the photo of Roy and me. Those were the days when my Nana paid for a photographer, so I have several great photos of us. Take care, my friend!
DeleteI'm sorry I am late. I love reading your post. I do not celebrate Christmas so it is pretty easy and quiet here. I do love the look of your tree. Terry, looks like such a fun guy.
