Rain's Thursday Art Date theme for last week was Scarves.
I knew exactly where to go: 2201 Kalakaua Avenue in Waikiki.
I always check this place out, because I never know what I will find.

I have never set foot in the store which is famous for
its exquisite scarves and other luxury items.
I can be a walking disaster, and it would be just my luck to damage a scarf
that costs more than what I made for many a month in my life.

Hermès window displays are unfailingly creative.
Guaranteed there will be one or more beautiful scarves featured.
This year's Waikiki's window display was quirky and mystifying.

Note: I'm really late posting.
A realtor let us know yesterday that he was showing
the condo we're renting at 10:00 am today,
so we had to have it sparking and organized for the potential buyers.
Never a dull moment!
Happy creating. Take care!
They are beautiful things. Some people can 'carry off' a scarf with grace and style. I am not one of them, and am content to admire them at a distance. I am also glad to learn that other people are accident prone klutzes. I suspect admiring the window display would be as close as I dared go to a Hermes store.
ReplyDeleteHi, Sue! I went through a brief scarf stage, but I abandoned it. Accident prone klutz that I am, I was afraid that I would accidentally strangle or hang myself. I do admire beauty, and Hermès scarves are gorgeous. Have a great weekend, my friend! xo
DeleteThese are stunning, and so are your photographs! Love them!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Damyanti! Have a lovely weekend!
DeleteWonderful scarves for the theme!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine!
DeleteThanks for taking us along and all your beautiful photos, Louise! This is as close as I'm ever going to get to a Hermès store, LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis is the only Hermès store I've seen, Debra. I can't remember where I learned of Hermès scarves, probably in magazines, but I've lusted after them forever. I'm normally not interested in luxury goods and definitely not labels, but I do love Hermès scarves. Have a great week, my friend!
Delete...Louise. you sure did some upscale shopping in Hawaii. Upscale for me is ABC Store of the Waler. The colors are fabulous. Thanks for showing me what I've overlooked in the past. Take care and have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tom! I enjoy upscale window shopping if I have the time. Waikiki is a fun place to see things I don't normally see!
DeleteThose scarves are gorgeous. I'd probably be scared to wear one because I'd either spill on it or get it caught in something and rip it. Smile. But that is such a cool window display. I'm glad you shared it even if it is a week late. I think it was worth seeing. I hope you are enjoying some non-winter weather and hope you don't have to keep sprucing up the apartment too often. Happy weekend. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erika! I hope I don't have to spruce up the apartment too often as well. It's 445 square feet/41.3 square meters, and making it look spacious and serene is definitely a challenge when we have our belongings and the owners'. I'm retired and I still love the weekend. Happy weekend to you too!
DeleteWow and Wow! This is an exciting and bold post. I can't stop looking at the photos. Thank you so very much for joining in with FFO and have the best day ever.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole! As you can probably tell, I love color, especially reds. I hope you are having an awesome day! Terry took me to a wonderful restaurant and bakery for breakfast while we were out of our condo. I have a weakness for French pastries ~ lol!
DeleteI think my comment came up as annonymous. Well it is me, Nicole. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole!
DeleteI just read your comment on my blog. Oh, I am so sorry you too have gone through so much with the doctors. I mean really! What is wrong with these people? Yes, my hair did come back. I have lost it all 3 times. I kept it very short for years but now I am growing it out long again. I did shave my head one time. It was just easier. If you can get off the pred it sure would be good. I take it only when I flare badly. It plays hell on the body. I have added you to my daily healing ceremony and prayers. Big hugs and much love.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole. You are truly a sweetheart! I'll add you to my prayers too. I did finally get off the prednisone. I'm sure that the prednisone is what caused me to break a foot and a rib by weakening my bones. I'm relieved to know your hair came back. I knew I'd lost a lot of hair when my hair stylist started showing me just the front of my head. She had pulled anything in the back forward ~ lol. Have a relaxing weekend! xox
DeleteThey are all lovely, Louise, but the Rocking Horse stole my heart. I can truthfully say I don't have anything even close to this (and I have nearly 500 rocking horses). I'm in LOVE, but not nearly $5000 worth.
ReplyDeleteI love the rocking horse one too, Elizabeth. This is the Hermès scarf I'd love to have. 500 rocking horses is a lot. I hope some of them are small! ~ lol. Have a great week!
DeleteLoe the scarves from Hermes. I have lots of scarves, but mostly from the thrift shop for 1€, that's more my price! Prednisone has been part of my daily diet for years, I know how it is! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteSmart you, Valerie. Thrift stores are great places to shop. Prednisone, poor you. It's a hard drug to take, but sometimes there is no alternative. I hope you have a fun and creative week! xo
DeleteHi Louise, you have given us such a sumptuous sharing of art on the theme scarves. Wow! I'm glad i dropped by.
ReplyDeleteMuch❤love
Thanks, Gillena! I'm glad you dropped by. Have a great week.
DeleteGood morning, Wow everything is so beautiful! love beautiful things too I with Valerie, most all of my clothes are from thrift stores hugs Happy weekend
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kathy! It's great that you shop thrift stores like Valerie. Disposable fashion is a huge waste of resources that adds a lot to landfills. May you enjoy lots of beauty this month. Take care.
DeleteThat is the weirdest looking display I have ever seen...
ReplyDeleteLOL, Alex ~ It had me scratching my head, but I found it strangely compelling. Red is my favorite color, so it drew me right in. Have a great weekend with your wife.
DeleteI don't think I have ever seen someone wear an Hermes scarf. Can you imagine just throwing one on? 😂
ReplyDeleteI've imagined wearing one, but not casually throwing one on, Sandi. I don't spend much on clothing, but I am tempted by beautiful things. I probably should have tried more gorgeous things on when I had the body to flaunt them. But I am who I am, and that is certainly not a regret. Have an awesome weekend! xo
DeleteThese are all gorgeous. I couldn't afford them either!
ReplyDeleteI think you'd look smashing in one, Jeanie! We can all dream, even if we can't afford something we'd love to have. Happy weekend to you!
DeleteHello dear friend,
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Hawaii, which is a pity (hopefully I'll make it one day!)
This really is a creative showcase for also very creative scarves! Of course I know the Hermes brand and I know that it is expensive - what shocks me is that every twenty-five seconds a Hermès scarf is sold somewhere in the world. I think some people really have too much money - while some don't even dare to enter the shop... But I think you are like me - just looking at the beautiful pictures on the scarves is enough, we don't need to own them...
Wishing you a very happy weekend ❤️ and all the best!
Traude

Thanks for your kind and thoughtful comment, Traude! Just looking at the beautiful pictures of the scarves is enough for me. They always delight me. I hope someday you get to visit Hawaii. It is a special place. Take care! xo
DeleteVery creative and colorful post from Hermes ~ enjoy your voyage ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Thanks, Carol. We're enjoying a cool rainy day in our condo. The rain has been heavy, prompting a flash flood warning, and lightning and thunder have been all around us. Terry came in from playing pickleball thoroughly drenched and running with water. I'll take Hawaii in any weather. It is a special place. Aloha! xo
DeleteThose are beautiful pieces of art, but scarves doesn't seem very Hawaiian to me (but I only own wool ones and it has to be extremely cold for me to wear one).
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday, Jeff! I hope you have a great day. There are a lot of luxury stores in Waikiki, because many foreign tourists come to shop and gawk. There must be many people with money to burn. Scarves make me think of Queen Elizabeth. Like you, I only wear them when it's very cold. Take care..
DeleteIgnorance isn't always bliss ... I had never heard of Hermes scarves or stores before. I, like you, could only be an observer of all of that artistic beauty, but observe I would (and have, thanks to you). These are all beautiful and to be able to translate them into a fabric form is nothing short of amazing. Scarves have never been my thing, except to wear on my head or around my neck for warmth. I never got into the fashion end of it. I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of gal and when I worked I wore scrubs so no place for a scarf. If I ever get to a Hermes store by chance, like you, I would be snapping away with a camera only I would probably get arrested, Ha! Anyway, a delightfully beautiful post and love the faceless in the window as well. Once again, you hit a home run :)
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From the Sol
Thanks, Andrea! I'm glad that you enjoyed my post. I had fun creating it. I'm a sweat pants and t-shirt person myself. I like washable, long-lasting clothing that is comfortable and requires little upkeep. I went through a brief scarf period, but they got in my way when I was teaching young children. Now I'm strictly a cold weather scarf wearer. Have a great week! xox
DeleteWow. Wrong line of work haha that is a lot of scarves being sold. They sure are eye catching and really well done, but yeah, I'll pass and continue wearing my clothes I bought 5 years ago lol The display sure is eye catching and quirky too. Good you didn't get arrested.
ReplyDeleteI'm still wearing the clothes I bought five years ago too ~ maybe ten ~ lol. But I have newer clothes too, just saying! Have a good one, Pat!
DeleteThose are some gorgeous scarves!! I love the display, very vibrant colours!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rain. The colors really spoke to me.
DeleteHawaii is always known for its vibrant color. The color in these photographs you posted is stunning. Artistic designs. Complex prints. And truly beautiful. Interesting to actually see the silk worm. I wouldn't want to be the one who needs to unravel the silk cocoon.
ReplyDeleteI just love Hawaii, Victoria, one reason is because of all the gorgeous colors everywhere. I absolutely loved the colors of the scarves and the display in my photos, too gorgeous not to share. Have a great rest of the week!
DeleteWow! So much gorgeousness in this post, and interesting facts too. I had no idea Hermès scarves sold at that rate. They really are works of art.
ReplyDeleteThey are works of art, Sue, and I especially love fabric-based art. But I have to look instead of buy ~ so I photograph it. Have a great week!
