The operation on my eyes is behind me. It went very well!
I won't know for a bit if I'm one and done, or if I'll need a second operation.
Meanwhile I look pretty scary ~ lol!
I wish I had looked like this when I performed in "Thriller,"
on the Ovation of the Seas on Halloween. I make a perfect zombie!
Whatever happens with my eyes, I will continue to push my limits
and experience as much as I can in this incredible gift of life!

I said that I would share the video I shot flying down Fremont Street on SlotZilla,
if I figured out how to download it and post it. And I did!
The video is no work of art.
I had no clue what I was doing with the handheld GoPro.
All I could think of before I flew was,
Oh my God! Oh my God! Am I really doing this?
I was really scared, and there was no backing out once I was strapped in.
Then, as I began flying, I started laughing because it was so much fun.
There's are a lot of extraneous seconds of nothing at the end,
because I didn't realize the camera was still filming.
My friend Janeth is to my left and flying ahead of me.

For Rain and Nicole: Spoons and Faces in a Cambodian Market.
We traveled to Cambodia in December 2008.
During our visit we had a wonderful guide, Soluy Loeurt.
She took us to a local country market and introduced us to a popular Cambodian dish:
a duck egg embryo, 18 to 20 weeks old,
boiled alive and eaten from the shell, tender bones and all.
She sprinkled the embryo with herbs and showed us how to eat it.
Which we did. When in Cambodia, do as the Cambodians do!

Have a great weekend!
I am so glad that your operation is behind you.
ReplyDeleteLoved your flying video - and the fact that you are living life to the full. And making sure that full is crammed.
Thanks, Sue! I'm glad it's behind me too! All the best to you!
DeleteYou are so open minded to taste that duck embryo!
ReplyDeleteI'll eat a duck embryo, but I'm not sure about bugs ~ lol! Have a good one, Roentare!
DeleteWow, that's some ride! I had no idea from just the still photos. The video clip really put it into perspective!
ReplyDeleteLove the shots of you dancing and especially of Cambodia. So interesting and informative, especially for those of us who don't get to travel.
Thanks, Leigh! I enjoyed the ride so much, I can't wait to do it again. The dancing was really stepping out of my comfort zone, but it was so much fun and I'm glad I didi it. I hope you get to do some traveling at some point, and maybe I'll get to hold baby goats. Have a great week!
DeleteNow that's the way to soar above traffic! I've zip-lined before and it's fun.
ReplyDeletePass on the eggs though.
The Slotzilla biplane has encouraged me to try more! It is a lot of fun. Have a great weekend, Alex!
DeleteYou are certainly not afraid to go outside your comfort zone and try new things -- like the duck egg embryo dish or flying on the Slotzilla zipline! Well, maybe you are afraid, but you do it anyway. I salute you! Glad your eye operation went well.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debra! I do try things I'm afraid of, and they don't always turn out well. I've had to be rescued more than a few times. But I keep going back ~ lol! Have a great weekend! Hugs to you!
DeletePrayers that your eye surgery goes well and you won't need another one. You know how to have fun. I traveled through Cambodia in 2011, when I journeyed overland from Singapore to Europe. After two days of looking at temples, I rented a cheap bike and spent a day riding about 40 miles through the countryside, I loved it!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to go from Singapore to Europe overland, Jeff! I thought the Cambodian countryside was so beautiful. We were lucky to have Soluy as a guide. We were in touch for a number of years until she became a Tibetan nun. I hope you have a great week. And thanks for the prayers.
DeleteI think of myself as an adventurous eater, but that duck embryo? No way! Glad you posted the photo though, because I'd never heard of it let alone seen it served up.
ReplyDeleteI've eaten some strange things in my life, Karen. Duck embryos are a common street food in places like Cambodia, Vietnam, and the Philippians. Have a great weekend!
DeleteDuck embryos are definitely a taboo food for us westerners.
ReplyDeleteI just went for it, Mae. I didn't know about the taboo ~ lol! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteEye surgery sounds scary - great you can dance and explore new things!
ReplyDeleteEye surgery was scary, Iris! But I had a lot of confidence in my surgeon and his staff. The last thing I remember as I was breathing in the anesthesia, was the anesthesiologist saying, "We're going to take really good care of you, Louise. Think of something good to dream about," as she patted my shoulder. I didn't have time to think ~ lol! If I have to have a second operation, I'll be less nervous. Have a great week!
DeleteGood luck on your eye surgery and recovery. I hope all goes well and you are good to go forever. (My cataract surgeries begin next week and now I'm thinking it could have been worse. Eyes matter!) I'll check out your video!
ReplyDeleteEyes do matter, Jeanie. I'll be thinking of you when you have your cataract surgeries. I've had cataract surgery on both eyes. I remember lots of psychedelic colors and no pain during my operations. They were well worth it! Take care!
DeleteHopefully it is one and done and no need to go zombie twice.
ReplyDeleteSure looked like fun. You did say oh my god quite a few times hahaha
I still cringe at the duck eggs. The boys think they are gross lol
I was so scared, exhilarated, and full of adrenalin before I flew that "Oh my God" was all I could manage. I still cringe at the duck egg ~ lol! And the boys are right. They're gross! Have a great weekend!
DeleteLovely spoon and faces Louise. So glad the eye surgery went well, fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine! So far, so good with the eyes. I've got everything crossed ~ lol! Enjoy the week!
Delete..Louise, you are on an adventure for sure. Our son lived in Cambodia after college and taught English. I've cataract surgery in both eyes, it nice to be able to see! I wish you well.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to be able to see, Tom. It's such a shock after cataract surgery to see how much and how quickly your vision improves. Strabismus surgery to correct double vision caused by thyroid disease takes more time to work. It requires cutting, manipulating, and reattaching the eye muscles, and it takes time for them to heal. Now that I've survived it, I can think about it ~ lol! I think it's awesome that your son lived and taught in Cambodia. I loved the Cambodian people! And the country is fascinating, the culture so rich! Have a great weekend with your sweetie!
Delete...Happy landing... Louise👍 and thanks for sharing 😀
ReplyDeleteI'm happy your operation went well, and good luck for full recovering soon 😍
Thank you so much, Sirkkis! I'm glad to have the operation, and if I have to have another, I'll be a lot more relaxed. Anesthesia is a lovely thing! Take care. Hugs to you!
DeleteI'm glad your operation went well. I hope you don't need another one. And I loved your flying video. Wow!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natalie! I had so much fun zipping down Fremont Street that I can't wait to do it again. Take care, my friend!
Delete'come fly with me' ~ fun video and glad eye surgery went well and do hope you don't need another ~ lots fo healing energy hugs to you ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Thanks for the healing energy hugs, Carol! I can feel them! I hope you have a lovely week!
DeleteGlad to hear the surgery went well. Cambodia would be an awesome place to visit, but I don't know about those duck eggs. They don't look very appealing. But as you said, give it a try. Hope the recuperating continues to goe well.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Erika! The herbs on the duck eggs help ~ a little! Have a good one!
DeleteHow fun to perform while on a cruise. I have sang a couple of times on a cruise.
ReplyDeleteI think that flying would be more than I could take. Ha ha. And I woke also have to pass on the Cambodian delicacy.
8 hope the operation was a once and finished event.
Thanks, Gene! It's so cool that you sang on a cruise! That's something that would terrify me! I hope you have a great week!
DeleteGlad the operation is behind you. Here's to hopefully being one and done. How did you like the ducky thing?
ReplyDeleteMe too, Ivy! I survived it. One and done ~ forever! Have a great week!

DeleteI love your post, the faces and the places. However, that vidio is priceless. You have a great voice and a fabulous laugh. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nicole! I did have fun! All the best to you!
DeleteIt is interesting to see what people eat in different countries. I think it was in Cambodia where we saw stalls selling cooked tarantulas and other bugs. We didn't try them.
ReplyDeleteI saw those stalls too, Lin. Thank goodness Soluy never invited us to eat bugs. She did tell us that when they ran short of food in her family when she was a kid, they'd scrounge for tarantulas and other insects in the jungle. It was very tough for the Cambodian people during and after the Khmer Rouge were in power. I really, really loved Cambodia and its people. Have a great week!
DeleteSo glad you had your eye surgery. Nice photos from Cambodia from 2008. You can have the duck embryos, though!
ReplyDeleteI got "failed to publish," so not sure when blogger will let me publish this.
It posted, Elizabeth, way faster than I got back to reply. Sorry about that. It's been busy for me this week. I hope you've had a good one! Take care!
DeleteBest wishes for a good outcome to the eye surgery, and may you never need another!
ReplyDeleteI loved your flying video. :)
Thanks, Sue! It was so much fun! I hope all is well with you! Enjoy your weekend!
DeleteI wish you all the best with your eyes....pushing the limits as long as it is possible...a good intention I think....and I was touched by the duck embryos....but that´s a different word.
ReplyDeleteAll the best
Violetta
All the best to you, Violetta! I'm 12 hours out from surgery this morning, and I'm pretty excited about my results. Fingers crossed, but I'm daring to hope that I'm one and done. I hope that you had a good week, my friend!
Deletei loved your first photo laughing carefreely dear Louise :)
ReplyDeletehow grateful i feel to read that your eyes operation went fine ,hope your ability to see is rich and clear my friend!
what a delightful video of your flight in slotzilla Wow !
i found it thrilling and so much fun ,your constant laughter and keeping God in mind is understandable ,i would have done the same some years ago lol
when i looked you flying and how people walking below looked small my body straightened with little tension (seems natural as viewer) but i was automatically laughing till you got down lol so much fun with little intensity
you were far healthier in 2008 by the grace of God . My eldest son keep saying that mom stop asking for having more weight because it is not healthy .slim and active person is more active and has productive times throughout the day .
keep enjoying your life's each moment Louise because it is priceless gift and one who feels happy can keep others happy as well :)
hugs and best wishes !
Hi, Baili! Thanks for your kind wishes, my dear friend! This morning is twelve days after my surgery, and my vision has improved a lot. No more two-headed people or peoples' lips appearing between their eyebrows, not to mention all the other distortions in my vision. When I wake up in the morning, I now have four feet in the morning. What doubling in my vision I have shifted lower. Going downstairs is trippy when I first get up. Each stair doubles and my back set of feet is on one stair and my front set of feet is on another. The 15 steps look like 30 ~ lol! But that effect is lessening faster every day. Recovering has been entertaining, if nothing else! I will fly SlotZilla again, because it was so much fun. I hope to get a better video, now that I've experienced using the Go camera. Your eldest son is right. If a person can keep the weight from piling on, he or she is much healthier. I was gaining weight, way too much, and it makes everything harder and more painful for your joints. My overactive thyroid stripped my weight down to what I weighed when I was 10. I don't recommend a hyperactive thyroid as a weight loss plan ~ lol! Now I weigh a little less than I did in high school and university which is great. I have to be careful now, because I love chocolate, wine, and sweets, and I could inflate quickly ~ lol! I am grateful because I can enjoy myself. I feel guilty at times, because I am fortunate when there is so much suffering in the world. Why should I be so lucky when so many aren't? No one has given me a satisfactory answer for that. All I can do is be grateful for this grace and pray for the less fortunate. And donate to charity and vote for programs to help those in need. And push for peace. And I'm grateful for you, Baili! I think the world of you! Have a lovely weekend! Love to you and your family.
DeleteOMG Louise, seeing that video gave me the chills, you are brave! I would have been just like you though, scared at first then enjoying every moment! Thanks so much for sharing that!!! I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you enjoyed the video, Rain! I cheer for you every day! Sending you hugs and energy!
DeleteI have cataract surgery scheduled for Friday and I am pretty nervous. That eye has a tonic pupil (does not shrink in bright light) and the doctor said there is a slight chance it could get worse.
ReplyDeleteOh, Linda, I hope everything will go well for you tomorrow! Trust in your doctor and try to relax. There is always a chance things could get worse, but it is unlikely because your chance is slight. I will keep you in my prayers tonight! Take care!
DeleteGlad the eyes are doing better. I worry that's in my future.
ReplyDeleteUm, I don't think anyone will ever be bored around you!
