2. Two
Two Photographers on CNBC
During the recent government shutdown
and the fight over the US debt limit,
there were endless press conferences.
These two photographers waited over an hour
for the Speaker of the House and others to speak.
I'm sure these two photographers never dreamed
they'd be constantly in a window
on CNBC for such a long time.
I found myself watching them wait!

Lone Survivor
there were very few surviving flowers
One such flower was this solitary petunia.
One flowering plant is still thriving on the prairie
and in gardens in the area: rabbitbrush.

Always fun to catch your Scavenger Hunt - how come you have never baked me a pie? Looks like you are very good at pie making! I love pies :o)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Barb
You've eaten lots of my pies! I baked my first one in Grade 3! A raisin pie in Margaretsville. When you come, we'll make pies! I found a super pastry recipe. Mom's doesn't seem to work as well out here in Colorado! What's your favorite kind of pie! Your gooseberry is awesome!
DeleteYour leaf rubbish would land straight in my dye pot!!! Had to giggle at the photographers. I once upon a time lived that life...
ReplyDeleteHi Snowcatcher! I didn't know you could make dye out of leaves like that! I've taken up knitting again after more than 30 years! Nothing fancy, just very long rectangles! Your craftsmanship is amazing! The photographers were more fun than the news. Hurry up and wait. Hurry up and wait. Over and over!
DeleteTake care!
you caught a ton
ReplyDeleteAs around you run
I'd rather play in the balloon castle too
Much more fun that just balloons in view haha
I am a runner, Pat! Mostly in circles! I photograph anything that moves or doesn't! LOL! Good thing my husband is a good sport!
Deletehappy halloween
ReplyDeleteRight back at you and Daisy: Happy Halloween!
DeleteTerrific photos, all of them with interesting info as well. Really enjoyed your post..Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words, Glo! You made my afternoon!
DeleteI always enjoy the explanations behind your photos - the pictures are good too! I almost fell over several times running about trying to get a photo of a plane! My favourite is your pumpkin patch though. x
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind compliment, Julie! Catching planes is tricky! We have F16s from Buckley Air Base going over us every day ~ but they are impossible to catch! They are never where they sound like. I love pumpkin patches! Take care!
DeleteI always like that you post more than one photo for every topic. Once again I love the photos showing you nad your husband. They could go for the emotion category, too: hapinness! Wishing you the best!
ReplyDeleteHi RF! Thank you ~ you are always so kind! I hope things are going well for you!
DeleteI definitely agree that home made peach pie is the best, Louise. And the Air and Space Museum on the Mall in Washington is an awesome spot, no question!
ReplyDeleteThe scavenger hunt looks to be great fun!
Ken
Hi Ken! How lovely to hear from you! I haven't been too good at getting on Facebook lately. I love peach pie, but we didn't get many good peaches this year. Repeated frosts took the blossoms out. I really want to go back to D.C. and spend more time at that museum ~ it's one of my most favorite museums ever! I hope all is well with you. Take care!
DeleteThanks for taking part in this months scavenger hunt, you always put together a great collection of photos. I really like flight, orange and homemade. Greenthumb.
ReplyDeleteHey GT! You always put such a fun list together. Gold is November's color ~ and I'm already thinking Colorado gold rush!!! You bake such delicious looking things! I thought you might like the peach pie! Seriously, I'm going to bake those doggie treats for Gracie and Rufus at Thanksgiving. Have a great weekend!
DeleteThe dogs look ready to go and go and go
ReplyDeleteGracie and Rufus ran me ragged when they were visiting ~ but it was fun! Hope all is well with you, HGW!
DeleteBeautiful pictures! I love the ones with animals in them especially. And you -- what a lovely smile! It's good to see you looking so radiant :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jan! I'm am finally feeling close to 100%. I'm glad that you enjoy the animal pictures. I'm always chasing birds, rabbits, and deer. I hope that you and your family are enjoying a lovely weekend.
DeleteI love the photo of the garden rubbish, and your pie looks scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteThanks LBM! I couldn't resist the little figurines half buried in beautiful red leaves. In Colorado most of the autumn leaves are shades of yellow and gold. So I am drawn to red maple leaves because we had so many of them back in Nova Scotia. There is nothing like a fresh peach pie! I hope all is well with you!
DeleteA great set of photos. My favourite is the maple leaves - a beautiful image.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eileen! I loved how the light was coming through the maple leaves! Have a good weekend ~ and take care!
DeleteI see Rufus & Gracie got everyone out of the house for daily constitutions ~~~ now that's a GOOD THING (Martha Stewart, oops) ~~~ sniffing the butterfly weed could provoke a sneeze....it has with Sophie dear! Peach pie ~~~ mmmm mmmm GOOD ~~~ we just had some peach scones - delightful indeed.
ReplyDeleteYour zoom focus really works ~~~ zonk ~~ gotcha!!
Watching the 2 photographers on CNBC looks pretty deadening ~~~ we are totally captivated by three Conservative Senators' problems here in Canada ~~~ everyone can't believe what's going on and maybe the Prime Minister will get the ol' heave HO ~~~ fingers crossed!!
Ron
Hi Ron! Yup ~ Gracie and Rufus helped me reach 22.95 miles in the week ending Sunday (about 36 klicks). That was important psychologically because I reached 20 miles the day before I landed in the hospital last July (32ish clicks), so I was a little hesitant to push ~ even though walking is supposed to be AOK. But no repercussions!!! You know, I think Gracie did sneeze after she left the milkweed! My little zoom on my point and shoot is great ~ and I can move it fast. I got a new camera with a 50Xs zoom, but the viewfinder is to the left, so I can't aim right when I need to be fast. I think I'm going to get an upgrade to a newer version of my old camera with the viewfinder in the direction I'm pointing. I'll also get a tripod so I can still used my 50Xs for things that don't move fast. Watch out antelope! Actually one of those two photographers was really cute, so I kept looking. What is it you say ~ winkers! I'm sure a certain Pete in Wolfville would love to see Harper get the heave ho! I'm not up to date on Canada's news ~ we only hear about Canadian mass murderers and such here! But now I've got to check this out!
DeleteHave a great weekend, Ron!
I love the Air & Space Museum!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your scavenger hunt - even more so knowing most of your pictures are practically in my neighborhood!
Thanks Dreaming! I love that museum so much! One of the things I saw in my way too short visit was the Liberty Bell 7. I had taken my third graders to see it when it had been at DMNS ~ and I told my kiddos its and Gus Grissom's story every year. But it's just one of so many incredible artifacts on display. I have to go back. I'm glad that you enjoy the local photos! Have a great weekend! You've got to try the hunt one of these days! Take care! Do you know if Boomer Terry is okay?
DeleteWhat an enjoyable and beautiful series of photos!!! (yes, and this includes the garbage cans). :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! I appreciate your visit, even if I was unable to respond until now! Take care!
DeleteGreat photos, I love the beautiful coloured leaves and the ghost in the tree.
ReplyDeleteGillx
Thanks Dosierosie! I am always fascinated at how different people enjoy different photos. Take care!
DeleteYour photos are always amazing. They are all so good it is hard to pick a favorite! I think your orange collection are amazing and I have a golden lab and I love seeing happy labs out walking!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment, MC! I have totally fallen in love with labs after my petsitting experiences for my sister-in-law! Take care!
DeleteWhat a lovely collection of Orange pictures and I love your con trail picture too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Fiona! I always take pleasure in the comments I get about my pictures! Take care!
DeleteWhat superb pictures and great stories behind them- I love all the orange ones, the ghostly one and your emotion one particularly. Thanks for sharing:)
